What to pay attention to in autumn? Eight tests worth taking
If deviations are identified on time, serious problems can be prevented at an early stage.
Even if you are full of energy and can boast excellent health, you need to undergo regular examinations to identify imbalances and problems in the body. It is advisable to do this at least once a year. In autumn and spring - in the off-season - all chronic problems often appear. This may be due to the inability of the immune system to fight off colds or changes in the weather or the length of daylight hours. All these factors are a stress for the body, which can affect, among other things, the effectiveness of training.
Of course, you can list many analyzes and examinations for a couple of million rubles, but we will limit ourselves to the most important and indicative ones. (Dr. Irina Yuzup)
1. Insulin Test
This hormone helps move glucose from the blood to the tissues. If your blood glucose is average, it is essential to check your insulin levels as well. This figure may be out of bounds before ، the blood sugar rises.
Normal values: 2.6-24.9 μU / ml.
What it says: an increase in insulin levels is characteristic of obesity, insulin resistance, fructose, glucose-galactose intolerance, and some other diseases. Low insulin levels can be a sign of pancreatic inflammation, type I diabetes, vitamin K deficiency. Familiar insulin companions include the inability to gain weight, sensitivity to cold, and low blood pressure.
2. Ferritin Test
This protein is needed to maintain the level of iron required for vital processes in the body. An analysis is prescribed when an excess or deficiency of iron is suspected to determine the causes of anemia (lack of iron or vitamins).
Normal values: men - 20-250 mcg / l, women - 10-120 mcg / l.
However, these indicators do not indicate the norm or pathology. It would help if you dug deeper. In addition, the spread is quite large, so the conventionally ideal indicator is in the middle.
What it says: Low ferritin levels are often caused by inflammation in the gut, which prevents the body from absorbing iron. Another reason is hypothyroidism (low levels of thyroid hormones). Elevated ferritin can be a sign of diabetes, autoimmune disease, cancer, or metabolic syndrome (obesity, hypertension, high blood sugar, and cholesterol).
3. Homocysteine Test
The Homocysteine test allows you to determine the lack of vitamins B9, B12, B6. Decreased levels of any of these vitamins increase blood Homocysteine levels.
Normal values: men - 5.46-16.20 μmol / L, women - 4.44-13.56 μmol / L level.
What it says: High levels increase the risk of stroke, heart attack, dementia, depression, osteoporosis. It grows with age and with smoking.
4. Magnesium Test
A study for the level of magnesium is prescribed in the presence of symptoms of its deficiency: seizures, confusion, insomnia, muscle weakness, and also to identify the degree of absorption in the small intestine of nutrients, vitamins, and minerals and to find out the reasons for the low level of potassium or calcium.
Normal values: 0.66-1.07 mmol / L.
If the magnesium level is average, this does not mean that there is enough of it in the body. The mineral concentration can be maintained at the required level due to its "washing out" from tissues and bones, which negatively affects the general condition. It is necessary to consult a specialist.
What it says: its deficiency leads to the development of cardiovascular diseases, osteoporosis, diabetes, increased blood pressure.

5. Number, particle size LDL
LDL (low-density lipoprotein) particles carry cholesterol into the bloodstream. Puny particles have less cholesterol than large ones but increase the risk of hardening of the arteries - atherosclerosis and the development of cardiovascular system diseases.
Normal values: 0-3.3 mmol / L.
What it says: LDL particle size and number tests are prescribed to assess the risks of atherosclerosis and heart problems.

6. CRP - C-reactive protein
It is an important marker that helps predict the risk of cardiovascular disease.
The study is prescribed for exacerbation of chronic autoimmune diseases, acute viral, bacterial infections, myeloma (a condition of the hematopoietic system), burns, tuberculosis, arterial hypertension, atherosclerosis, hormonal disorders.
Normal values: 0-5 mg / l.
What it says: An increase in C-reactive protein indicates the presence of chronic inflammation in the body.

7. Testosterone Test (free / Bioavailable)
The hormone "protects" men from depression, obesity, cardiovascular diseases, and women from decreased libido. Free (Bioavailable) testosterone is more informative than total testosterone.
Normal values:
- In men from 20 to 40 years old - 9.1-32.2 pg / ml, from 40 to 60 years old - 5.7-30.7 pg / ml, over 60 years old - 5.9-27 pg / ml;
- In women from 20-60 years old - 0.1-6.3 pg / ml, over 60 - 0.5-3.9 pg / ml.
What it says: It is prescribed for men with delayed development of secondary sexual characteristics, osteoporosis, acne, infertility, andropause.
And for women: with hirsutism (excess hair growth on the face and body), infertility, and irregular menstruation.

8. Estradiol Test
This hormone is essential for the female and male body for reproductive health, brain function, maintaining a healthy weight, and bone health.
Normal values:
In women: folliculin phase - 12.4-233 pg / ml, ovulatory - 41-398 pg / ml, luteal - 22.3-341 pg / ml, postmenopause - 154-3243;
In men - 11.26-43.25 pg / ml.
What it says: A decrease in estradiol increases the risk of bone fractures, osteoporosis. In women, the rate of estradiol drops sharply during menopause; high hormone levels in men reduce sex drive and increase the risk of cancer and stroke.
