What to do after exams?
This morning, I went to the grain market in where I was getting a shoemaker to fix my shoes in a corner. He was sharpening his tool on a stone at that moment. I casually asked even though it had no particular meaning.
"Do you sharpen it every day?"
"Yes, every tool needs to be sharpened daily, or else it becomes dull."
Our knowledge, our skills, our expertise, and our ability to work are our tools. Different tasks require different skills; our adaptability, our problem-solving approach, our readiness – these are our tools. After exams, you can enhance these qualities further.
What to do?
If you know computers, delve deeper into advanced learning. If you cook, learn different ways to prepare meals. If you are an artist, explore various techniques and color combinations. If you drive, obtain a bigger driving license. If you sing, learn different melodies. Cultivate a love for books.
Don't stop, don't bow.
Bring interest to your household. Every individual in your family should know every household task, from washing clothes, drying, ironing, fixing faucets, repairing broken tiles, churning butter, making paranthas, to taking care of a patient, changing a baby's diaper, and more.
I am saying all this for a reason.
There are three reasons for this.
First reason
Respect is earned in every family, society, office, and institution for someone who excels in their profession. Return more to what you are engaged in. Do this, and you will become a skilled worker, a competent professional, and a responsible individual. You should be an ASSET to your organization, not a LIABILITY. Be strong in every aspect, not weak.
Second reason
Families are getting smaller. The needs are increasing. Due to the rise in the Mobility of Labour and the impact of globalization, the present generation is leaving their ancestral homes to work anywhere, whether it is another village, region, or country, where the rest of the family cannot accompany them.
In a nuclear family, all tasks are handled by the husband and wife themselves. Apart from the job in the office or factory, preparing food and taking care of children's welfare become the responsibility of the couple who, at times, work different shifts.
For this reason, every task, every skill, and every talent in your hands should be so developed that wherever you work, when you leave, you leave your mark behind. Leave your legacy at the other door when leaving.
Third reason
The consequences of a growing population are increasing unemployment, and the competition for government jobs is rising. Many of the youth, faced with various social, political, and economic reasons, are choosing to move abroad, often without the assurance of government employment.
Whether you and my dreamland are in Canada or other countries, one thing is certain that the joy of government jobs is diminishing. For any job, with your merit, your connections, your money, create and apply your own formula, and then enter any sector, whether it's legal, political, or financial.
Even while doing regular jobs, avoid flattery, sycophancy, boasting, and intrigue. Start a campaign, create awareness, celebrate, and enjoy. Start a fire and put it on your shoulders. But this era is also coming to an end.
This era is ending, but it's important to note that in our country, the trend of hiring and retaining employees based on hire and fire is increasing. I used to tell my permanent colleagues at my own time in this college, who were often working in government jobs:
“Don't turn your eyes away, don't break the shackles, don't leave the flame.”
In our current era, if you work with dedication and sincerity, you will become the center of everyone's jokes. Sit in your cabin, in your department room, or in the staff room and enjoy the challenge, feel the excitement, and revel in it before work or the world exhausts you. Be happy, keep happy, and when happy, you will rule.
