Controversial billionaire Elon Musk hogs the limelight when he speaks or, in this case, posts on social media.
This time, the South African is trending again for a tweet that has sparked controversy over a possible purchase of YouTube.
The owner of Tesla posted on his official Twitter account a criticism towards the YouTube platform regarding the use and publication of various ads that he considers fraudulent.
"YouTube seems to be non-stop scam ads," Musk wrote on the social media, unleashing a wave of messages and responses from numerous users to his tweet.
Many wrote to Musk, inviting him to join YouTube Premium to not view ads. Others, on the other hand, invited the billionaire to buy YouTube.
The hashtag 'Buy YouTube' quickly trended and opened the rumor and speculation box, based on the recent experience of his Twitter transaction.
Musk himself responded to a netizen who shared the same opinion as him. He even stated that he will take action to prevent fraudulent use of Tesla for other purposes.
"Yeah, exactly. Also, other companies are using the Tesla name for solar and Powerwall. Will put a stop to that," Musk responded. Will we see the South African buy the famous video content platform?
Another recent topic related to Musk has to do with his former relationship with Amber Heard, they even remain friends to this day. However, Musk was not present to support Amber in the trial, mainly because he has a lot of other things to deal with at the moment.
Anyway, the actress still has a level of respect for Elon, as she constantly shows off a gift she received from him.
When the two dated in 2017, Musk wanted to give Amber one of the cars that his company Tesla builds. This is the famous Model S, which is one of the best-selling cars in the entire company.
Currently, this is a car that tops the $100,000 mark for a single model with all specs equipped. In recent pictures taken of the actress by paparazzi, she was seen getting into her black Tesla Model S to confirm this news.
Elon Musk complained about ads on YouTube Tuesday, and several internet users responded by asking the tech billionaire – some jokingly and others seriously – to buy the streaming platform.
Musk, who is in the process of reaching an agreement to BUY TWITTER FOR $45 BILLION, criticized YouTube on Tuesday for having "nonstop scam ads." The TESLA CEO later tweeted a meme poking fun at YouTube and accusing them of cracking down more on swearing than illegitimate ads.
One user continued by stating: "You should buy it and install some real management that supports free speech and knows how to lead engineering teams to identify and stop scams."
However, others poked fun at Musk for being the "richest man in the world," and not subscribing to YouTube premium, which allows users to experience the platform without ads.
Regardless of the public response, Musk has made no indication that he's interested in eyeing YouTube. The tech billionaire's deal with Twitter even appears to be on shaky ground.
On Monday, Musk threatened to break off the agreement with Twitter after accusing the social media company of failing to provide data he's requested about spam and fake accounts. In a letter issued to Twitter, Musk alleged that the company is "actively resisting and thwarting his information rights" as agreed upon in the deal.
"This is a clear material breach of Twitter's obligations under the merger agreement and Mr. Musk reserves all rights resulting therefrom, including his right not to consummate the transaction and his right to terminate the merger agreement," an attorney representing Musk wrote.
Though Musk has previously put the agreement on hold, the letter marked his most direct threat to walk away from the deal in nearly two months. However, the incident sparked some eye-rolling, as Musk is known for making quick and unpredictable decisions when it comes to business dealings.
