Football History (Soccer)

Soccer (or football as it is called in some parts of the world) has a long history. Football in its current form originated in England in the mid-19th century. But alternative versions of the game existed a long time ago and are a part of football history.

Early history and ancestry of football

The first example of a team game with a ball carved in boulder dates back 3,000 years to older Mesoamerican cultures. It was called Tachatali by the Aztecs, although different versions of the game were spread over large areas. In some rituals, the ball represents the sun and the losing team captain is sacrificed to the gods. A distinctive feature of the Mesoamerican ball game versions is the bounce ball made of rubber - no other early culture had rubber access.

The first ball game with kicking was played in China under the name guru in the 3rd and 2nd centuries BC in the 3rd and 2nd centuries BC. zuni was played with a round ball (fur sewn with fur or feathers) on a square field. The modified form of the game later spread to Japan and became known as Kmart in its official forms.

Probably the oldest Kudzu was also Main,****, a ball game played by aboriginal Australians and kicking, mainly according to white immigrants in the 1800s. The ball is made from attached leaves or roots. Most of the rules are not known, but keeping the ball in the air is probably the main feature, like many other early versions of the game.

Other types of ball games are known from ancient Greece. The ball is made of pieces of leather covered with hair (the first papers filled with air ***** belong to the 7th century). However, ball games have a lower status and are not included in panhellenic games. In ancient Rome, games with ***** were not included in entertainment in large fields (amphitheaters), but were held in the army under the name Harpists

st. This is the Roman culture that brought football to the British Isles (Britannica). However, it is unclear to what extent the British were influenced by this type and to what extent they developed their own forms.

The game of football takes its form

The most widely accepted story is that the game originated in England in the 12th century. During this century, games such as football were played on the meadows and streets of England. In addition to kicks, there are also ball punches with fists in the game. Even this early form of football was far more rigid and violent than the modern game approach.

An important feature of football pioneers is that the games involve a large number of people and take place in large areas of the city (known as Calcio in Florence since the 16th century). The spread of these games caused damage to the city and sometimes even the death of participants. These were one of the reasons for the statements against the game, which was eventually banned for many centuries. But sports like football return to the streets of London in the 17th century. It was banned again in 1835, but at this stage the game was established in public schools.

However, it took a long time to put into practice the features of today's football. For a long time there was no clear distinction between football and rugby. There are also many variations regarding ball size, number of players and match length.

This game is often played in schools and the two main schools, are Rugby and Eaton. In the rules of rugby it is possible to take the ball by the hand and the game we know today as rugby originated from here. At Eton, on the other hand, the ball is played exclusively with the feet and the game can be seen as a close ancestor to modern football. In rugby, the game is called the "running game", while in Eaton the game is called the "dribbling game".

At a meeting in Cambridge in 1848 an attempt was made to formulate proper rules for the game, but not all questions regarding the rules were finally resolved. Another important event in the history of football took place in London in 1863 when the first football association was formed in England. Decided not to carry the ball with his hands. The ball size and weight were also standardized at this meeting. One consequence of the London conference was that the sport was divided into two codes, association football and rugby.

However, the game continues to develop over a long period of time and there is still a lot of flexibility regarding the rules. For one thing, the number of players on the pitch may vary. Uniforms were also not used to distinguish the look of the teams. This is common even among players wearing hats - the header is not yet part of the game. Read more: Evolution of football rules.

Another important difference can be seen at this stage between the English and Scottish teams. While the English teams preferred to pursue the ball in a more rugby manner, the Scottish chose to pass the ball between their players. This was the Scottish policy that soon dominated.

The game was formerly a pastime of the British working class. An unprecedented total audience of up to 30,000 will watch the major matches at the end of the 19th century. The game will soon be expanded to British people who have traveled to other parts of the world. Interest in football is growing, especially in South America and India.
