What’s Wrong With My Face?

The term acne refers to white hairs and blackheads (closed skin pores) and nodules or cyst, which are deep bumps. These are found on the face, chest, neck, shoulders and sometimes the upper arms. Most young people suffer from acne to some degree, although people of other age groups may develop acne just after 40 years. It is not life in danger but it may confuse your opinion of you and may permanently disrupt you if it is difficult. A person with acne may end up with permanent scars. In fact, it does not need to be difficult to break free from permanent scars. Causes of acne go back to the hormonal changes in early adolescence, and the oil glands produce more mass. These oil glands, known as sebaceous glands, are more sensitive to the male hormones known as androgens. Women also have androgens, although they do not have as much as men. The hair shaft within the sebaceous gland forms what is known as the sebaceous follicle. As we move into photography, the skin cells around these follicles break down faster than in previous years. In those who experience acne, cells break down but become more cohesive than those that do not. When these cells stick together, this excess of sebum (fat) will likely eventually connect to the follicle hole and because the sebaceous gland does not stop producing its sebum the follicle will simply swell. What also happens is that a bacterium called Pacnes, which is common in the skin, begins to multiply rapidly in a closed hair follicle. The products produced by these bacteria are irritating and cause inflammation. The follicle sometimes ruptures and inflammation spreads to the surrounding skin. This is how acne sores are formed - whether pimples, blackheads or nodules. There are a few myths about acne that we would like to get rid of. The first is that your uncleanness causes acne. People who believe in this myth end up rubbing their faces and other parts of the skin painfully and often, often making the acne worse. Acne does not happen because your upper skin is covered with dirt or oil. Although you do not want to leave dead skin, dirt or excess oil on your skin you do not want to rub it vigorously, or you will only aggravate the problem of acne. All you have to do is wash your face gently twice a day and let it dry. You may also want to use acne medication - over the counter or prescribed. A second myth about the cause of acne is that stress brings. Common depression is not at all related to acne, although if you suffer from depression that is severe enough to be prescribed by a doctor and prescription medications may produce acne. If you are taking antidepressant drugs or other symptoms related to depression and you have acne breakout you should see your doctor. A third myth about acne is that your poor food choices cause it. Your mom may tell you to avoid chocolate or fried foods or pizza and it may help your acne. Nothing could be further from the truth. Food does not bother the acne. A balanced diet is a good decision for the rest of your life, yes, but it does not affect acne. Another myth is that acne is just a cosmetic problem - in other words, it is not a big problem. People who think this way ignore the potential impact on how people - especially young people - feel about themselves. Another problem is that it can have permanent scars
