It's no secret that theology is important for spiritual growth. But how exactly does it help? Let me tell you a story.
Once upon a time, there was a young girl who had just started attending church with her family. She loved the music and the singing, but she wasn't sure what she believed about God yet. She knew she wanted to be good, though—and when she saw other people in the congregation doing nice things for each other, it made her feel good too!
At this time in her life, she didn't know what "theology" meant—but as time went on, and she learned more about God and His love for us, it became clear that theology is what helps us understand our relationship with Him. Theology gives us the tools we need to live out our faith in everyday life by helping us understand who God is, what He wants from us, and how we can grow closer to Him through prayer and service.
Theology isn't just important for spiritual growth; it's fun! Whether you're studying at home or learning with friends at church, theology can be an exciting adventure into new worlds where we discover more about ourselves as well as the God we serve. The Bible says, "The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge; fools despise wisdom and instruction" (Proverbs 1:7). As we study theology, we learn to fear God more deeply, which means that in turn we will also begin to understand Him better. God is a God of love, but He's also a God of justice. We need to understand what that means and how it impacts our lives!
The Bible says, "The zeal of your house has eaten me up; the insults of those who insult you have fallen on me" (Psalm 69:9). Our spiritual growth is affected by the actions we take in response to our knowledge of God. If we don't use what we learn about Him in our everyday lives, then it's like eating food without nourishing ourselves—we get fat, but nothing good comes from it! We need to be careful in our zeal to serve God. We can't let our desire for His glory cause us to blindly follow whatever laws we think He wants us to obey, or else we'll end up being manipulated by other people who may have their own agenda.
The Bible says that no one can please God without faith in Jesus Christ (Hebrews 11:6). Without this faith, our good works are like filthy rags (Isaiah 64:6). God's Word tells us that we should fear God, and this is something that can be difficult to do. But if we want to truly understand Him and His ways, then it's something we need to work on doing. This verse is an example of how God uses the words of our enemies to mold us into His image. It's interesting that He mentions insults as well as zeal; both are powerful motivators for spiritual growth. We want to be insulted because it helps us understand what God wants us to change about ourselves and how we interact with others. We want to be zealous because it helps us understand how much God loves us and wants us to do His will. This is why we need to fear the Lord. We need to realize that He's doing everything He can for our good, even when it seems like He isn't. So, theology of the Cross is not just a theory, but also a practice. It's meant to be lived out in your life and mine.
