When it comes to dieting, many people prepare themselves for failure before they even begin. They are afraid to go on their diet and are planning their accidents on the way before they start this process. It is sad to say, but many dieters are indeed planning their first Rocky Road accident by eating their last bowl of Rocky Road before the big event.
I don't know why we do this to ourselves but this is something I see everywhere in dieters. The most popular idea is that before embarking on a diet, one should rely on the foods one likes and enjoy the most, as these things must be eliminated to shed those unwanted pounds. If you are honest with yourself, nothing could be further from the truth. Moderation is just a concept that many of us hate to accept.
You just have to be more discriminating with the help you render toward other people. Food is not the enemy. And that's something most people don't understand. Even 'delicious' food is not hostile. The enemy is your personal inability to properly distribute the food you eat. The problem is, most of us have a laid-back attitude when it comes to painting a picture about ourselves. This is where the problems come in.
Our bodies need nutrients that we need to consume by not eating five servings of vegetables and three servings of fruits every day. Our bodies know that something is missing and we feel hungry or deprived. If we were using the right balance of fruits and vegetables every day, we would know that we are less likely to get hungry and crave foods that are not healthy. This means that we are more likely to enjoy them in moderation than they should be.
Portion control is another issue we have. We live in an "up-selling" society. From your favorite gallon of cola, super-sized fries and empty calories are served with almost every fast food meal that can be purchased. You just have to be more discriminating with the help you render toward other people.
To be truly successful when you abstain, you have to adopt the process of making yourself healthy instead of depriving yourself of anything. Don't underestimate your weight loss plan but consider it a positive force to make a difference in your life. When negative thoughts come to your mind, do not apply them to your diet. When you feel deprived, remind yourself that you are depriving your bones of this extra weight. Remind yourself that you are depriving your wardrobe of heavy clothing designed to hide bulges. Remind yourself that you are depriving your body of years of bulges and bringing back the body of your youth.
Don't get so caught up in the process of dieting that you forget to enjoy some of life's blessings. Just looking at your weight and counting your calories doesn't mean you can never go beyond your allotment. The goal, however, is to strike a balance. You may be surprised at the results if you learn to distribute your food correctly, engage in moderation, and incorporate pleasant calorie-burning activities into your daily routine.
Weight loss will be followed by fatigue and constant tiredness. If you can't control yourself when it comes to talking, avoid getting involved in any way. However, if you can learn to include these little things in your routine in moderation and also burn those extra calories, then you should feel happier and more successful 'dieter' than in the past.
