Humans over other forms of tocopherol are due to the rapid metabolism of other species and in the protein-alpha-tocopherol transfer (alpha-TTP). Because of the binding alpha-tocopherol and alpha-TTP, most beta-, gamma- and delta-tocopherols are absorbed into the body and excreted in the wild. In contrast, alpha-tocopherol is excreted in the urine. The alpha-tocopherol form also accumulates in non-liver tissues, especially in areas where free production is very high, such as in mitochondria and endoplasmic reticulum in the heart and lungs.

VITAMIN E SUPPLEMENT

Several medical conditions can lead to e-vitamin deficiency and may require vitamin supplements. Cystic fibrosis causes a person to be unable to digest fat properly, leading to fewer vitamins. Crohn's disease causes decreased e-vitamin absorption rates, and supplementation may be required. Other types of liver disease can also lead to vitamin deficiency problems, especially in the gut. Of course, as fat is needed to help absorb a sufficient amount of vitamins, anyone with a low-fat diet will need to discuss their options for increasing the number of vitamins their body needs.
