What OnePlus Could Make Nord An Independent Brand In The Market: Report

OnePlus launched the N o r d series with a focus on the mid-range s e g m e n t  and now we also have different products from the brand. Most people expected N o r d to branch out on its own, like other BBK Electronics brands, and according to a new report this week, it seems N o r d to become an independent brand in the near future.

As we have seen with the N o r d  lineup so far, the products are priced lower than the OnePlus models. N o r d has the most affordable OnePlus phone in the market right now, priced under Rs 20,000. So it is easy to understand this move, whenever it is officially confirmed by the company.

OnePlus has evolved from a flagship killer to a flagship brand itself with the 10 series and the upcoming devices. Letting N o r d operate in the market on its way gives it the space to grow and become a force in a different segment.

In other words, this would bring the company in line with other Chinese OEMs like  The source further added that N o r d will be treated as a standalone company and will have its own unique branding, stores, and even team. Notably, N o r d phones will no longer have OnePlus branding, rather they will carry the words “from OnePlus” or “a OnePlus brand” in come places.

Based on the branding so far, we can expect a branding that uses light blue as its theme color. The sources also stated that the N o r d branding will continue to focus on offline channels and to build a strong offline presence thanks to new dedicated showrooms and partnerships with third party stores and other authorized resellers. The N o r d branding doesn’t just end with smartphones and will soon encompass TWS earbuds, Bluetooth neckbands, power banks, fitness bands, smartwatches, and much more.

The report also suggests N o r d could become a bigger brand on its own, with new product categories like fitness bands, smart TV and audio devices in its portfolio.

The prospect of N o r d going on its own hardly surprises us, especially with the track record of the other companies that made a similar move. The sub-brand in the market, while the most popular case can be made for Xiaomi and P o c o in the market. Xiaomi also offered Redmi its own space in the market, with a separate range of products catering to a different audience.

According to The Mobile Indian, the Chinese smartphone maker is planning on expanding its presence in the market even further. It has already launched the N o r d CE 2, the N o r d CE 2 Lite, and even the latest addition, the N o r d 2T recently. And now, a source close to the matter has stated that the next strategy to grow in the is by having OnePlus spin off its N o r d as an independent brand or possibly even a sub brand.
