How Nintendo Wii Has Just Completed One Year.

Can you believe it's already been a whole year since the release of the Nintendo Wii? In fact, as of this writing, it's now officially over one year! It seems like yesterday, doesn't it? Even though the Wii has been out for over a year, that doesn't officially make it the oldest "next-gen" system. That spot actually belongs to the Xbox 360, which is over two years old compared to it. The incredible thing about Nintendo's console is its undeniable success and how quickly it achieved it. To give you an idea of the extent of its success, although the Xbox 360 was released a year before the Wii, the Wii officially went on sale this year! The success this system has had so far has been completely unprecedented. Even after over a year, you'd still have a hard time finding this console in stores - after a whole year! Once the system is on the store shelves, someone is there to grab it! Due to the hectic demand for the console, it might not seem very practical to buy the system in person, unless of course you don't mind playing a potential game of "chase and catch". If you do, then shopping online for a popular video game system may be your best bet to grab one. So throughout the year the Wii has been in high demand and shows no signs of slowing down. While this may not be great news for consumers looking to purchase the system, it is certainly great news for the console maker, Nintendo. Until recently, video games were generally aimed more at the "hardcore gamer", leaving little room for those casual games that might entice people with less of an interest in video games to give it a try. The great thing about the system, though, is that it basically bridges that gap. It brings together both hardcore and casual players. Wii sports, a game bundled with the Nintendo console, forces you to swing your arms and move your body. Instead of using complex button combinations to play tennis like with the Wii, you're only required to move or swing the controller, so people of all ages can easily enjoy it. Just because the Wii may seem simple to control doesn't mean you can't play games that are more complex. The console offers titles for both hardcore and casual gamers. Those who have been playing games for several years will quickly warm to titles like Super Mario Galaxy, The Legend of Zelda, Red Steel, Call Of Duty and the list goes on. On the contrary, those who are new to the gaming scene will find fun in games like Wii Sports, Wii play, Big Brain Academy, Wii Fit and the list goes on and on. Looking at the system's software library, it's not hard to notice the variety of games, making it easier for consumers of all ages to find what they like. The reason for the Wii's massive success is that it managed to reach an audience outside of those who normally played games. It has a simplified control, but at the same time it uses the most modern technologies. The software available has expanded beyond titles that are only available to hardcore gamers. Contains games that can be played online at no additional cost. But most importantly, it is user-friendly. It's these and other combinations that have made the Wii the must-have video game system for over a year now.
