If you've lived in the woods your whole life and have no idea what Hollywood is, it's still not acceptable. Given the popularity of Hollywood, it is not surprising to know that it is the largest film industry in the world. But what is so special about it? What is behind its fame? Let's discuss.
Professionalism:
One of the biggest characteristics of Hollywood movies that sets them apart from any other industry is professionalism. Every scene from start to finish is rendered so professionally that one can hardly find any fault. They make movies, it's hard for us to believe that it's fictional.
Graphic Design:
Undoubtedly, Hollywood comes up with the best graphics as they appoint expert team members to make everything look real. Avengers, Planet of the Apes, Gravity, Jurassic Park and Avatar are some movies where you can see the amazing work done by the graphics team with amazing graphics and effects.
Stick to one concept: Unlike other film industries, Hollywood films stick to the actual concept from start to finish instead of straying away. For example, if the story is based on music, everything in the film (concept, story, songs and screenplay) is only related to the music.
Subject diversity:
Hollywood movies with a similar theme are not easy to find. Each film carries a different story, concept and moral. However, in other industries, the film has the same concept with only a slight variation and a different title. As a result, the movie becomes uninteresting to watch and really boring.
Sound effects:
You can't label a Hollywood movie if it doesn't carry interesting background music. What's a movie without a sound effect anyway? Perfect sound effects are added to the movie to enhance the impact of the scene. Whether the film is based on action, horror or drama, sound effects are used very wisely.
Large audience:
As this movie is releasing all over the world, they have a huge fan following from all corners of the world. However, other film industries release their films in their own country and 2 or 3 other countries. Another reason related to this is that English is widely spoken and people understand it very well. Hollywood studios invest in foreign companies and films not only in their own country.
Bollywood has taken over our entertainment industry. The stars and their films are not only enjoyed by Indians but are also very popular abroad.
We all often hear that Hollywood movies are much better than Bollywood but as an Indian we feel there are certain reasons that prove otherwise. There are reasons why Bollywood is better than Hollywood, at least in certain aspects.
1. Bollywood has a high emotional quotient in its films than Hollywood films which prefer a more straightforward approach.
Our Bollywood movies definitely have more emotional drama and connection than any other Hollywood movies. Romantic bond or family ties, the way Bollywood touches the heart, we're pretty sure Hollywood movies can't. 2. Bollywood movies offer us soulful songs, dance in movies while Hollywood has almost none of these.
Bollywood dance numbers and songs are our everyday best best friends. Be it party or shade, our celebrations are incomplete without Bollywood songs. Similarly, in movies, our entertainment is hugely dependent on good songs and dance
3. Bollywood has a larger audience, there is something for everyone, while Hollywood's audience is relatively small:
We have an audience that appreciates movies backed by content and even ones that are pretty brainless. If we have films like Newton, we even have films like Judwaa 2. Our audience can appreciate and watch different kinds of cinema. All movies have their kind of audience, unlike Hollywood where they have to meet the intellectual expectations of their moviegoers
4. Simple stories, great characters and highly relatable themes in Bollywood movies while Hollywood focuses more on technical aspects and film editing.
Our stories are simple with a very basic background. We don't have too much science fiction or technology in it. Be it Piku, Rani or Geet, our characters are real, one of us. They move the story forward. In Hollywood, script, editing and elements play an important role in a film.
5. Bollywood movies are more appealing and better to watch with family:
We can easily watch Bollywood movies without the fear of hiding our face when an unpleasant scene occurs. In all Hollywood movies, exposing skin or kissing is a common thing. Apparently, in our culture, we find it a bit embarrassing to watch such scenes in front of our elders. But with Bollywood movies, we can easily enjoy watching movies with family. Obviously there are some exceptions even in Bollywood.
Our Bollywood movies are vibrant and include the depiction of many cultures. In our films, we show a cultural exchange that no other industry can boast of. From races to religions to languages, our films present our culture and ethics in the right light. For example Namaste London, Ram Leela, Lagaan and many such movies.
7. Dialogues that stay with us forever that are highly dramatic:
How many dialogues do you remember from any Hollywood movie? Well, the answer lies there alone. Hollywood films are more conversational, but in Bollywood film we have the 'star' dialogues which remain the highlight, become one's motivation, one's favorite dialogue which can be used in any real life situation.
Comparing Bollywood and Hollywood is highly debatable but the arguments are always against Bollywood. We lack technical and production quality, which is still not equal to Hollywood, but we are slowly getting there. We should appreciate our cinema more often.
