What Liverpool Pushing to Sign Chelsea's Mount in Summer

Reports have suggested that Liverpool are actively courting Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount for the summer transfer window. The England midfielder is currently engaged in contract negotiations at Stamford Bridge and has 18 months remaining on his deal.

He has been an integral part of the Blues' recent squad and one of their lowest earners. He wants a contract that reflects his status as one of Graham Potter's most important players, yet is said to be frustrated at the large valuation disparity between himself and the club.

1. Calcio Mercato

Italian news outlet Calcio Mercato reports Liverpool are actively courting Chelsea midfielder Mount for the summer transfer market. Jurgen Klopp has long been linked with Mount, who previously played for Borussia Dortmund.

According to reports, Mount's transfer could be worth PS44m but there are potential stumbling blocks. Furthermore, Liverpool are believed to be considering paying Ousmane Dembele's release clause.

Chelsea are looking to bolster their defence when Maurizio Sarri joins this summer, and there are a number of targets that could assist them. Former AC Milan defender Raul Albiol has been mentioned as a possible target, while Los Angeles Galaxy striker Lozano could also be on their radar.

Liverpool are reportedly planning an impressive summer move to sign Chelsea star Mount. According to The Daily Mail, they are considering making a sensational swoop as negotiations between Mount and Chelsea over his contract have come to a halt due to a vast salary discrepancy between his demands and what the club is willing to offer.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is known to admire the 24-year-old's work rate and attacking prowess, making him a likely target as they look to bolster their midfield this summer.

Mount, who was left out of Chelsea's squad for their defeat to West Ham last week, has been in impressive form this season and has started 19 Premier League games for them. Additionally, he has earned himself two Player of the Year awards from Chelsea over the past two seasons.

3. Daily Mail

Liverpool are currently looking to sign Chelsea midfielder Mount in the summer. Mount has been a target for Liverpool ever since they began searching for quality midfielders this season.

However, The Daily Mail reports that contract talks between Chelsea and Mount have come to a standstill after he rejected their latest offer. Mount is demanding three times his current weekly salary of PS80,000, leading the two parties to disagree on a deal.

At the end of this season, England international Danny Welbeck will have the option to leave Chelsea FC. This comes at a major blow for the Blues as they strive to improve their Financial Fair Play status while playing some of their star players on long-term deals.

4. Evening Standard

Liverpool have had several players in their squad who have been linked with a departure this month, such as Naby Keita and Curtis Jones who both failed to make the impact they are accustomed to at Anfield.

Jurgen Klopp has his sights set on Chelsea's Mason Mount, who despite not being in top form this season has scored 21 goals and demonstrated an impressive work rate that could fit perfectly into Liverpool's midfield.

Liverpool are eager to sign Mount this summer, believing he would make the ideal addition for Jurgen Klopp's side. Although his contract expires next year, there is a salary discrepancy between Chelsea's offer and what Liverpool are willing to pay, which has caused Klopp great excitement about bringing Mount to Anfield.

5. The Sun

Chelsea are intensifying their efforts to secure Mason Mount a long-term contract after reports surfaced of Liverpool's interest in him. At 24 years old, Mount still has 18 months left on his current deal but reports indicate there is disagreement over salary demands between himself and the club. If true, Chelsea would likely look into offering him more security as part of their long-term planning for their player.

Rumours swirl that the England international wants to triple his reported weekly wage of PS80,000-a-week, which would put him on par with players such as Mateo Kovacic, Cesar Azpilicueta and Reece James. However, Boehly appears determined to keep wages down following January's wave of signings; if no agreement is reached this summer then Chelsea may need to sell some players.
