According to the U.S. Geological Survey, there are 57,000 windmills on land and at sea in the United States. Wind turbines can be individual structures or integrated into one of the wind turbines called wind turbines.
Although a turbine can generate enough electricity to support a home's energy needs, a wind farm can generate enough electricity to power thousands of homes. Windmills are usually located on the top of a hill or in a windy area to utilize natural air.

The largest marine wind farm in the world is called the Valney Extension. The wind farm is located about 19 kilometers (11 miles) off the northwest coast of England in the Irish Sea. The Walney Extension covers an area of 149 square kilometers (56 sq mi), which is larger than the island of Manhattan in San Francisco, California or New York.
The grid of 87 wind turbines is 195 meters (640 ft) high, making these sea wind turbines some of the largest wind turbines in the world. The Walney extension is capable of generating 659 MW of electricity, enough to power 600,000 homes in the UK.
