At present the graph of road accidents is increasing continuously. Every day the pages of newspapers are filled with information about such accidents. that stirs the heart. In such a situation, it becomes necessary to know about safe traffic and follow its rules.
Rules of safe traffic – Following are the main rules of safe traffic in India-
(i) Walk on the left – The main rule of traffic of the country is – Walk on the left. By walking on the left, the person reaches his destination safely. In many countries like Pakistan, England, Australia, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka etc., there is a rule to walk on the left side like India, while in countries like Germany, Canada, America, Russia and China etc. there is a rule to walk on the right side.
(ii) Use of Helmet – Helmet must be used while driving two wheelers – scooter, motorcycle etc. and while sitting behind on it. Helmet protects the head in case of an accident, it protects the head from serious injury.
(iii) Adherence to the prescribed speed limit – The maximum speed limit of vehicles has been fixed for safe traffic on the road. Generally, a speed of 40 km per hour is considered ideal for vehicles on the road. This determination of speed limit varies according to the condition of the routes. Generally, highways have higher than normal speed limits, while in densely populated areas the speed limit is lower than normal speed. Most of the accidents are caused by speeding vehicles. Therefore everyone should follow the prescribed speed limit.
(iv) Seat belt fastening – Cars etc. four wheelers move at high speed on the road. Because of this, the risk of their accident is also high. Most of the deaths in four wheeler accidents are due to head-on collisions. The seat belt prevents the person from leaning forward during an accident, so that his head does not hit the desk-board or other seat of the vehicle in front and the person is saved safely. All the passengers including the driver of the vehicle must be fastened with seat belts for safety in order to reduce the loss in any such accident that may happen unfortunately.
(v) Overtaking of another vehicle – We should overtake from the right side of that vehicle only when we get a signal from the vehicle ahead. Overtaking in the wrong direction by mistake or in haste can be fatal. While overtaking, keep in mind that no vehicle is coming from the front.
(vi) Other rules of traffic - In addition to the above rules, some other important rules are as follows, which are also necessary to follow.
Do not drive under any kind of state of intoxication.
Always drive vehicles in your own line.
Give the necessary indicator and blow the horn while the vehicle is turning.
Be sure to give a suitable signal while stopping.
Do not seat more than the prescribed number of persons in the vehicle.
Keep the speed of your vehicle slow while keeping in mind the pedestrians near schools, hospitals, squares etc.
Do not use dazzling headlights.
The top half of the headlight should be painted black.
Use the dipper at night.
Get the number plate written according to clean and correct standards.
Numbers of private vehicles should be written in black ink on white plates and numbers of commercial vehicles should be written in black ink on yellow plates.
Nothing should be written on the number plate of the vehicle other than the number.
Geared carriages are prohibited under the age of 18 years; Therefore, people younger than this should not use them.
Follow the traffic signs.
Driving license and vehicle registration is mandatory to drive a vehicle on the road. Without them we should not drive vehicles.
Proper light reflectors must be installed at the front and rear of the vehicle. We should not use more polluting vehicles.
High-pitched pressure horns, strange noises and restricted hooters and lights should not be used in vehicles.
Do not talk on mobile while walking or driving on the road and do not listen to songs etc. with earphones.
Be sure to look around while crossing a railway crossing without gates.
If you see a train coming, wait for it to pass through the gate.
If the railway gate is closed, do not cross the railway line by exiting under the barrier.
When crossing the road on foot, use zebra crossings, over bridges, underground passages.
Use the sidewalk when walking on the road and the cycle track when riding a bicycle.

(a) Precautions to be taken by pedestrians – Pedestrians should observe the following precautions

(b) Precautions to be taken by the drivers – Drivers should take the following precautions for safe traffic
Drive the vehicle in full consciousness and in normal condition.

Keep the vehicle in good condition.
Major causes of traffic accidents-
Haste and carelessness are the two major causes of road accidents. That's why you will find boards with "Caution removed, accident happened" and "Accident delayed well" everywhere on the road. Due to this haste and carelessness, many innocent and precious lives are lost to death. Inattention is caused not only by the driver, but also by pedestrians; Therefore, while traveling, we should avoid both haste and inattention.
Uncontrolled speed is another major cause of road accidents. Today the hobby of speeding, stunt driving in the name of false display of power and art is giving rise to traffic accidents. Apart from this, unsafe parking, driving by minor children, increasing congestion, jams, uncontrolled traffic, broken roads, etc. are all other important causes of traffic accidents.
Our liability towards traffic accidents-
In the context of traffic accidents, the most important thing is how we fulfill our responsibility towards the accidents after they happen. If all the people discharge their responsibilities towards accidents properly, then the number of people who die in these accidents can be drastically reduced. In the event of an accident, our biggest responsibility is to first provide first aid to the accident person as much as possible. If he is seriously injured, immediately take him to the nearest hospital.
If any hospital or doctor delays his admission or treatment or refuses to do so, then legal action must be taken against him, so that in future that hospital or doctor does not dare to do such inhuman behavior. Refusing to treat the injured person is a punishable offence.
It is also worth mentioning here that no police report is required to admit the accident person to any hospital or to provide any kind of medical facility to him, nor is there any need to write his name and address to any person who is admitted or helping him. Is. That's why we should make all efforts to save the life of the accident person without hesitation and fearlessness.
After getting treatment to the accident person, you can take action for police report etc. At the time of accident, we also have a big responsibility that we should not mobilize unnecessary crowd at the accident site and help the administration in smoothening the traffic as soon as possible.
