TOTAL STATION
Introduction -
Before the construction of any building in civil engineering, that place is surveyed. Various techniques are used during this. At present, electronic/optical instruments are used for surveys than various other techniques. This allows the survey to be conducted efficiently. This device is called Total Station or Total Station Theodolite. An electronic distance meter is installed in this device, which works to measure the distance from the device to a specified point. At present, robotic total stations are also used, operated from remote control stations located far away. Automated or robotic total stations do not require additional staff. In these, from the observation point itself, a person makes the total station located far away. It usually consists of a combination of the microprocessor, storage system, and electronic data collection system. This instrument is used to measure slope distance, vertical code, and horizontal code, etc.
parts of total station
The major parts of a total station used in various civil applications are as follows -
- Display --- Digital display is used to display various information in the total station.
- Operational Panel --- Operational panel is installed near the display to perform various functions by the total station.
- COLLIMATOR - It emits laser light that collides with the target and collects the required data.
- Objective lens is used in total station equipment to set the rays emanating from the collimator and to see the target.
- Data out connector - Data out connector is used to receive the data collected by the total station.
- Optical Plummet - Optical Plummet is the fatal installed in the total station, which helps measure the survey map accurately.
- Leveling Screw - A leveling screw is used to keep the device stable.
Total Station Accessories
The main uses in the total station are
- Electronic theodolite --- This is a triangulation instrument, with the help of which both horizontal and vertical codes are measured.
- On-board Microprocessor - The microprocessor is an important component of modern electronics. The microprocessor is used in Total Station to get various tasks done efficiently.
- Data Collector--It is a critical tool, as it keeps the person's data record doing the survey.
- Data Storage-- Data storage is used to store the data collected by the total station.
- Prism - Prism used in the total station measures changes in altitude and position of points in the survey and three-dimensional monitoring systems.
- Charger and Adapter ---- The charger and adapter are used to charge the battery of the total station.
- Tripod --- Tripod is used to support the total station or to keep it in its status quo.
Features of Total Station
- By this, the distance and angle of any point can be measured, and a record can also be made to use in the future.
- With its help, the height of a point can be measured.
- With its help, an accurate mind is obtained by using atmospheric pressure, temperature, prism constant.
- With the help of this measurement can also be done from a distant point.
- It is easier to operate than any other device.
Advantages of Total Station ---
- With its help, the area can be calculated efficiently.
- Mostly spoken here using regional language.
- It is also capable of receiving data from old maps.
- It can be easily set on a tripod stand.
- It uses a digital, waterproof display.
