This is Jake's own story of how he sees his world! I don't remember much from my very young life, but my own story really began at about 14 weeks when this very nice couple came to where I lived looking for a puppy. All I remember is sitting in the corner of the kennel while a young lady with four puppies ran up to them to say "Hello". They were very pretty I was just a plain old "black and white" border collie. I thought to myself, "No one will ever want me" and was resigned to a lonely life in my corner. However, to my amazement, I was the puppy they picked up. "Right" I thought... "I'll make the most of this and hope they take me home" so I hugged them as tight as I could and gave them a big wet kiss. This turned out to be a winning move on my part because that's when my own story really began they took me home with them. When we arrived at the house where my new "mom and dad" lived. I felt a little lost sitting on the kitchen floor all by myself with no other puppies to play with. But as the months passed, I became more accustomed to my surroundings and began to enjoy my little life. “This is the place for me” I think,There's plenty of open space to run, shadows to chase and even things with feathers that fly away when you get close. I did have a few hiccups though when it came time to learn to walk on one of those lead things... I wasn't too keen at first! I actually tried very hard not to give up, but as you can guess, I did! As time went on, I did everything from digging holes in the flower beds, helping to "plant" the flowers, and just managed to avoid falling into the pond, and I thought my new life was going to be great. When I was about...mm!, let me think about it...ohh! I think I must have been about 12 months, everything in the house was packed in boxes. "What is happening here?" I was like, "Which box is mine?". It turns out my own story will continue from a new home near the coast… What a great place it was. So many places to have a good old frolic amongst the heather, plus there was a place called 'the beach'. I wasn't too sure about it at first because I got my feet wet, which was something I didn't like at all (at first). But after going a few minutes I started to realize it's not such a bad place. I could run and run and not really get anywhere, but it didn't matter. Then one day, much to everyone's surprise, I decided to be brave and hit the water... Yay!, now my feet are more than wet. "Hey, this is fun" I think "I can actually swim." I was looking forward to being taken to the beach more and more as time went on. After a few years, however, everything was packed in boxes again. Here we are again, I thought, where are we this time too? Not have to wait long. We moved to another house, but still close to the sea. I'm almost 6 years old now (I think!) and I'm sure I've been a constant source of entertainment for "mum and dad", I reckon they have a file full of photos and lots of fond memories…for now, that is! Life has been very good to me, so a big thank you to my "mum and dad" for picking me up and taking me home that day. All I want now is to grow old with them, update my own story from time to time and enjoy life together for many years to come…
