THE ROLE OF MEDIA IN CURRENT TIMES
Today we live in the 21st Century, the resources of communication are changing, become advanced day by day. Now the period of advanced communication has taken place, which means that we can get news from anywhere and any part of the world on a current, economic and social topic. We can see everything from our home on television and the internet. These all possibilities are because of electronic media. In current times the role of media is vital.
Now a day’s journalism or printing activities have spread all over the world. Media now stands for mass communication. It becomes more popular day by day because it updates people on happenings and events in the country. Media updated people on current and social topics; either it is related to society or religion. Basically, media is the pillar and interaction between the people and government.
MEDIA AS A SOURCE OF INFORMATION:
The role of media is precious. Not only electronic media but print media has its own values. Print media plays a role for educators by publishing comments and reviews on different topics and branches of knowledge.
MEDIA AS A POWER:
Media and journalism itself is a power it depends on the newspersons, journalists, anchorperson that they will use it. Free, honest, and impartial media is a great blessing for the people of the country. A healthy and mature media can play an effective role in public opinion on the right lines. Media has highly been called the fourth state of democracy.
MEDIA AS A PRESENTER:
Basically, the media presents its own country. It depends on the media how he presents his country to the world? Through reporting and pointing out the good things that create a good Pakistan image to the whole world. But if it reports the irresponsible and wrong news which badly affect the country’s image and create controversy to the whole world about us either the media is good or bad, it represents the country.
ATTEMPTS MAKE TO CONTROL MEDIA:
Freedom of the press is compulsory as we all know that attempts have been made in Pakistan, India, and other countries to control media. The worst form of control and restriction on media was Nazi Germany and fascist Italy during the II World war. The press enjoys freedom in a sound democracy. In England and the United States, the press enjoys wide freedom.
Although media has itself a lot of benefits, we see advertisement of different products on TV. In sports, if any event or match is being played outside our country, we can see it live on television. Media creates awareness by holding different programs and TV shows related to current and social topics. That is why media has highly been called the fourth state of democracy.
There are two types of channel categories in mass media communication private sector and the government sector. Although there are too many private channels working in our country in Pakistan, they are also popular among people. Almost one-third of the Pakistani population likes these channels.
