What is the right time to publish your Stories or Articles

After musing about ideas for a story, I commence working on it. After a handful of, I sense it might not work, or the information will not lead to a definite ending.

The best possible solution I contemplate is to take a break from that story, work on some other ones, and revisit the previous one later. After some time, I feel, maybe this is the right time, and why do I feel that way? Well, there are several reasons which are either related to my day - to - day activities. And I would like to share it. There might be many who might have confronted the same.

First, I had never written a story until I was in the second year of my engineering. I used to have the never really jotted down any of them. When I was in my first year of engineering, I dream of a young boy trying to bunk his school. The when I woke up, I had somehow remembered the dream. I constructed a story around it, but I didn't write for a long time.

One fine day, I was having a conversation with my colleague. She asked about my hobbies. Without a second thought, I shared how I aspired to become a writer. We talked a little longer about it. Amused by this, she asked me whether I would write a story about her. The first thought about writing a novel was about the same dream, which I had one year back. The idea completely suited her.

In the evening, I scribbled down the story, with some changes, on my phone and shared with her. She relished the news. At that moment or even later, I didn't realize the theory I'm enunciating. This was the first time I  even without comprehending.

For a long time, I wrote only short stories, predominantly consisting of 3-4 pages. While I was in my final year of engineering, I had another story idea. I had a brief idea about the plot points and the ending. After a few months, I thought of writing that story. This particular story consisted of three chapters. I wrote the whole story and completed it in one go. I redrafted it again and again.

I am pleased that I didn't publish it once I had finished rewriting multiple times. It needed a little more rework. And the same thought emerged, that the story isn't working. I continued the cycle and took a break and hurled to the next one.

I didn't know character arcs and the rest of the things required for writing a good feature story. I reaped the knowledge after reading multiple articles and watching videos on the art of storytelling. I thought of revisiting that story. I used to ponder the story between those years. Meanwhile, I had also written other short stories, but I didn't publish it too due to the same reasons. I didn't deem it was the right time.

The break from the current story and bouncing to the next one happened at multiple instances.
