What is Prostate cancer, its causes, symptoms, treatments, and preventions?
The prostate is an exocrine gland of the male reproductive system present right under the bladder and in front of the rectum. Prostate cancer generally starts with abnormal growth in the gland cells. The size and the shape of the gland cells may be altered. Even today, prostate cancer is prevalent among older men.

Signs and symptoms:-
Signs and symptoms that indicate the possibility of prostate cancer are:
- Weak or Interrupted Urine flow.
- Sudden urge to urinate.
- Patients may have to urinate more frequently - especially at night.
- Patients may experience pain or burning while urinating.
- Blood in the urine stream.
- Pain in the back, hips, and pelvis that does not go away.
- Shortness of breath.
- Fast heartbeat
-
Dizziness, pale skin, and tired feeling.
If you experience any of the above-mentioned symptoms, make sure you consult your doctor immediately.

Diagnostic tests:-
Several tests can be used to detect and diagnose this cancer. Here are a few of them:
Physical exam: It is a procedure that helps detect any unusual growth in the gland. The doctor may also ask questions about the patient's health habits and past illnesses and treatments.
Digital Rectal Exam: In this process, the doctor or nurse may insert a lubricated, gloved finger into the rectum to examine the prostate gland for lumps.
Prostate-Specific Antigen Test: This examination measures the level of PSA in the blood. PSA is found in greater amounts in the blood of patients who have prostate cancer.
Trans-rectal Ultrasound: A probe is inserted into the rectum, which is used to detect cancer. High energy sound waves are bounced back. These are used to create an image of the body tissues called a sonogram.
MRI: A strong magnet, radio waves, and a computer are used to create images of the areas inside the body. A probe is inserted in the rectum, which helps the MRI machine create clear prostate images and nearby tissues. This can also detect whether cancer has spread to the nearby tissues.

Biopsy: This includes removing a few cells from the prostate gland so that they can be observed under a microscope.
Treatment options:-
Treatment options and recovery chances are generally decided after the stage of the cancer is diagnosed. This means that it is necessary to understand how much of the prostate gland is affected by cancer and how much it has spread to other parts of the body. The other important factor is the patient's age and whether the cancer is diagnosed for the first time or has reoccurred. Prostate cancer treatment options are plenty, and the good news is that most patients diagnosed with this cancer do not die of it.
Vitamin D Helps in prevention?
Some studies show the positive effects of vitamin D on prostate cancer. It was found that people with the proper amount of vitamin D have less tendency to be affected by cancer than those with vitamin D deficiency. These individuals also have fewer instances of developing aggressive cancers.
The recommended dose of vitamin D is less than 10,000 IU daily. You can obtain IV vitamin therapy from an alternative cancer treatment center. Presently it's a myth; more research is ongoing.

You can find vitamin D receptors along the surface of your cells. When vitamin D is consumed, it attaches to these receptors. Once bound, chemical signals are sent from vitamin D, which tell the cells what to do, like die or divide.
These same receptors can be found in the prostate tissue, so vitamin D binds to them as well. This is believed to cause cancerous cells to perish, stop growing or keep spreading to other system areas. It's also why vitamin D is believed to be helpful against prostate cancer.

Prostate cells have a property that converts inactive vitamin D to active ones. And this property is lost by prostate cancer cells. This is why supplementing with vitamin D is effective for slowing down cancerous cell growth.
Thus, this disease is much more common in older people greater than 50. Its symptoms are swelling of prostate glands, blood in urine, MRI, physical examination and biopsy, etc. It contains the preventive role of vitamin D in prostate cancer.
