Now, the latest report from an online portal suggests Rajinikanth's new film will be directed by Nelson Dilipkumar.
Despite several speculations, Rajinikanth has surprisingly opted to work with Nelson Dilipkumar in his 169th film, and the film is reported to be produced by a popular Kollywood production. Anirudh Ravichander, who has scored music for Rajinikanth previously in the films 'Petta' and 'Darbar', is reported to be scoring music for his uncle for the third time.

The official announcement of the film will be made soon once the final documents are settled, and the film is expected to be made on a grand scale with all South Indian languages and Hindi. Rajinikanth is expected to be seen as a humorous character after a long time, and fans are interested to see the expert actor's combination with the progressing director Nelson Dilipkumar.
Meanwhile, Nelson Dilipkumar is set to deliver his third directorial 'Beast', which features Vijay in the lead role, and the film is slated to release in April. The talented director is currently working on the post-production work of the film, and he will be commencing his film with Rajinikanth after the release of 'Beast'.
A source close to the development of the film told Pinkvilla that Rajinikanth and Nelson Dilipkumar are teaming up for a feature film. It will be high on content with ample amount of quirky elements in the screenplay. By April end or early May, the film should go on floors. The source also revealed that the film will see a theatrical release between December 2022 to February 2023. An official announcement will soon be made with a special video. The film is produced by Sun Pictures with Anirudh on board to do the music and background score.
Meanwhile, Nelson Dilipkumar is gearing up for the release of his next, Beast, fronted by Thalapathy Vijay. His new film with Rajinikanth will mark the superstar's 169th film. It will be shot over a period of five to six months at multiple locations due to the Covid-19 scenario.
