What is the most important thing is to guarantee resources for a good life?
When we were just awaiting our first child, my biggest stopgap was that my child would be healthy and normal. Latterly, I got sober with the fact that those attributes are obviously not the most important effects in life. With special children, I realized that the most important thing is to have a good life.
I believe that the foundation of a good life is that a person is suitable to see their own capacities live according to them, manage with the challenges of life and share in the conditioning of their community as a valued member of their community. As a side note, this is the same approach that the World Health Organization uses to define internal health.
Putting one’s own capacity and capability to make a good life in the van isn't a new invention, but an ancient bone. Formerly Aristotle, maybe the most significant champion of ancient Greece, stated that a good life is a life lived in agreement with merits. But stay, does not this sound suitable egregious? Shouldn’t an existent be at the van of our society for decades, emphasizing his or her rights, solicitations, and openings?
Well, that is what you might anticipate, but how frequently a person's part of our society is pushed from the dominant part of their lives into colorful measures. Decreasingly, the boundaries of services are determined by individual criteria and the views of experts, not by people’s real requirements. An expert may be right about effects themselves, but if an existent’s lack of coffers is the biggest hedge to success, treatment or adding knowledge and chops alone won't help a person go further in the path of a good life.
As a parent of special children, it has frequently been noticed. When our family has run out and we've had to turn to outside help, we may have been asked what help we'd like. But still, what's offered is generally an “ intervention” defined by some outside authority to support and strengthen our family and parenting through guidance, comforting, intervention, or correction.
I've bandied this a lot with my family and peers, that is, other special parents. I've asked what they would need to have a good life. The answers sound veritably mundane to be suitable to sleep and rest enough, to be suitable to take care of everyday tasks, to have time to maintain a relationship, to be suitable to make gemütlichkeit with the child and to maintain one's own, to have time occasionally for oneself.
According to a check by the Autism Association, over 40 parents of children with special psycho psychiatric diseases are feeling bad or fairly bad. Parenthood for a special child requires a lot of special chops and capabilities, but the workload of everyday life is really the reason why managing is depleted and well-being deteriorates. But what if it's so simple that maternal coffers are best supported by allowing space to breathe, openings to relax and rest, authorization to realize oneself, and the experience of being understood?
Of course, the child's situation is an important factor in managing, and high-quality characteristic treatment is important, but the most important thing would be to support the whole family's chance of a good life, ie good internal health. It would be important to know where all the coffers go to both children and their parents, because occasionally rather than drugs, it may be most effective to allow a good night’s sleep for parents or to give childcare and drawing help at home rather of parenthood guidance.
According to Aristotle, in addition to success, there are lapses and difficulties, joy and anguish in a good life. Thus, the measure of a society’s success is how well we can support people’s coffers and implicit to make their own substance. Also, the end is over to us.
