First, foremost, let's say passing a Driving Test is just the beginning of your driving career, no matter how successful you are on the day of the test. It will take a typical young driver for maybe three years to drive regularly before he says, Now I am an experienced driver. Please note the emphasis on the word "be". Getting to the Experience of an Experienced Driver will take a long time. I think it really depends on the amount of driving a person does every day, every week, the level of night driving, and the traffic conditions during the daily commute will determine how long this study will take. Passing the Driving Test is a combination of basic driving skills, a positive attitude, detailed preparation, attention to detail, practice in the usual place where the Tests are conducted, and plenty of Detailed Driving School Instructions. The need for professional education cannot be underestimated, and the in-depth knowledge provided to the student by the Instructor will give the candidate the best chance to get a good result. Many of these aspects are ignored by the test-takers, and we will explore in detail what will be required for the rest of the text. Tires ……… Tires need to be in good condition and deep above the legal limit and free from cuts, cracks, or bumps on the sidewall. Tires with the best tread should always be in the original tier, and this is something that should be considered as an integral part of your weekly technical check. Wheel pressure should be in line with the specification of the tire because improperly inflated tires will not only be safe but will quickly wear out and provide a more comfortable ride.
Lights and Directions …… All brake lights and indicators must be in good working order and the lenses free from damage and clean. It is very important to carry spare bulbs in your emergency kit to replace them at the last minute as they may blow at any time and a failed brake or indicator will indicate that the Test will not be performed.
Loose Items ……. All loose items in the car (and who does not have them?) Should be removed but the rear seats, if installed, should be kept in spite of the blockage of the rear screen. The fashion of hanging spiders, fur dice, and dogs scratching their heads on the backpack is not a way to create a Driving Examiner and a block view. It's also a dangerous game to drive as a student to drive and not show L Plates. I'm always amazed by the students who come to learn about their cars without L plates. It is unfortunate that the basic driving rules are constantly enforced by student drivers but even worse the general perception of Learner Drivers under the tutelage of instructors called Instructors who roll out Test Centers without showing L Plates. It shows a lack of respect for the Law and the need for higher driving skills and the need to focus. Yes, cell phones should be turned off and not visible.
Air screens and mirrors…. This should not be cracked and clean.
Service ……. It is a good idea for the Car to be serviced prior to your inspection, and any technical issues that have been postponed should be addressed. If the Instrument warning light flashes during testing due to mechanical problems, it means the Test will be canceled by the Inspector.
Papers ……. Insurance disk, road tax disc, and N.C.T. certificate, if applicable, must be available and readable. If any of these are blurred or unreadable, the test will be canceled. A change of vehicle ownership near the scheduled driving test time, which results in a lack of documentation for any reason, will result in the cancellation of the test. Nothing but the original. Official documents will be accepted, so it is important that you do not leave anything spontaneous.
Temporary License ………. The current Irish driver's license is required to carry out Irish Driving Testing, foreign licenses from outside EU countries will not be accepted. All of these features take time to complete and therefore are not something you can accomplish in a few days and require thought and planning. Perhaps all of this may seem like a burden, but it shows the importance and level of concern imposed on the acquisition of the Irish Driver's License by the authorities.
