* Nageshwar Temple Introduction.
The glory of the historic Nageshwar Mahadev, located at Bakshi Ka Talab in Lucknow, has spread to hundreds of villages. People from far and wide come here to worship Baba. It is said that by worshiping Mahadev every day in the month of Sawan, every wish is fulfilled. This is why there is a gathering of devotees not only on Monday of Sawan but throughout the month. Devotees say that the temple was established in the 17th century. After the construction of the temple, a pond was also established nearby. The historic Tripura Chandra Bakshi ka Talab, Thakurdwara, and Badi Bazaar are situated near the temple. A centuries-old idol of Shiva is installed in the temple. The local people believe that the Shiva idol located in the temple had automatically appeared from the earth. There is also a belief associated with the temple that a serpent comes to this temple at night to worship and protect Shiva. Therefore, the devotees request that if you worship here regularly in the month of Sawan, all your wishes are fulfilled. A fair is held on many special festivals, including Nagpanchami, Mahashivratri, and Baba's tableau.

The history regarding the establishment of this famous Shivling is as follows - There was a virtuous, virtuous, and exclusive Vaishya devotee of Shiva, whose name was 'Supriya.' When he was going somewhere through the ocean waters in a boat, at that time, a fiercely powerful demon named 'Daru' attacked him. The demon Daru kidnapped Supriya and all the people, took him to his puri, and took him captive. Since Supriya was an exclusive devotee of Shiva, he was always absorbed in the worship of Shiva. Even in prison, his worship did not stop, and he made his other companions also aware of the worship of Shankar. They all became devotees of Shiva. Shiva-bhakti became the dominant force in prison. When the demon Daru came to know about this, he was furious. When he saw that Supriya was meditating in prison, he scolded him and said – 'Oh Vaishya! What conspiracy are you plotting against me with your eyes closed?’ He was threatening with a loud cry, so nothing affected him. The proud demon Daru ordered his followers to kill Supriya. Supriya was not frightened even by the fear of his own murder, and he continued to call upon the fearful, trouble-shooter Lord Shiva. At that time, on his devotee's call, Lord Shiva appeared to him in prison itself. Lord Shiva appeared to him in the form of Jyotirlinga situated on a shining throne on a high place in the prison. Shankarji also gave one of his Pashu pata shastra to Supriya Vaishya at that time, and after that, he disappeared. After receiving the Pashu pata shastra (weapon), Supriya killed all the demons with his strength, and finally, he himself attained Shiva Loka. According to the instructions of Lord Shiva, that Shivling was named 'Nageshwar Jyotirlinga.' After seeing 'Nageshwar Jyotirlinga,' a person who listens to the story related to its origin and greatness, he becomes free from all sins and attains all material and spiritual pleasures-

Nageshwar Jyotirlinga temple opens for darshan at 6 am, and till 12:30 pm, devotees can have darshan of the Lord here. In the morning, devotees offer milk to the linga of Bhole Nath. After this, the temple opens at 5 in the evening and remains open till 9:30. Aarti is performed in the temple during this time.
