Sultan Muhammad Quli Qutb Shah built the Charmin in Hyderabad after shifting the capital of his kingdom to Golconda, Hyderabad. The city of Hyderabad is also famous for its Charmin.

The area of ​​Charmin is connected with Golconda market. The old Hyderabad city was built because of Charmin and since then Charmin is situated in the center of Hyderabad city. The city was settled near the four minarets of Charmin.

There are four arches and four gates to the north of the Charmin. The fifth ruler of the Qutb Shahi Empire, Sultan Muhammad Quli Qutb Shah built the Charmin in 1591.

Charmin's four minarets are the real reason for its beautiful appearance. Some people believe that the four minarets of Charmin represent the four caliphs of Islam. The real mosque inside the Charmin is on the second story.

Some say that there was a mysterious passage between Charmin and Golconda Fort, which earlier used to pass through the capital of Quli Qutb Shah and in times of emergency this secret passage was used to take the people of the royal family safely from one place to another. Work came.

But even today no one knows the real place of that mysterious wall.

 Structure of Charmin–

The structure of Charmin is a motif, inspired by the shape of Shia Tzias, which is 20 meters in length. It has four grand arches which open into four streets. There is a 56 meter tall minaret at each corner with a double balcony. On each tower there is a dome with a petal-like design. You have to climb 149 steps to reach the upper floor. The structure is made of granite, mortar, marble and limestone. At the western end of the open terrace is a mosque, where congregational prayers are held on Fridays. Devotees could offer prayers inside the mosque in a very peaceful manner.

You can have a panoramic view of the city from the balconies of Charmin. The structure of Charmin is a classic example of Indo-Islamic architecture with Persian influences. The monument's arches and domes define the influence of Islamic architecture, while Persian influence is prominent in its minarets. The balconies and the outside walls, stucco on the ceilings are decorated with floral embellishments that show the influence of the Hindu style of architecture. The second floor and upper pillars of Charmin are not open to the public.

* The historical age of Charmin is 450 years, which makes it the oldest monument in India. As per the age, the structure of this monument is still well maintained and strong.

* Charmin has been purposely built in the middle of the city Hyderabad. It was built on top of a gridiron design near Charmin along a 2 square meter street of the city.

The spiritual significance of Charmin is very high. It is understood that the Charmin was built to honor an undertaking which was given to Allah by King Quliqutab Shah.

*Hyderabad has been built with a wonderful thought. The great king Quliqutub Shah had decided to build this monument as a memorial when the people of the city got rid of the harmful plague.
