What is the Global Warming

The term “global warming” describes the gradual rise in the planet’s average surface temperature, which is mostly brought on by human activities that cause greenhouse gases to be released into the atmosphere. These gases trap heat and contribute to the greenhouse effect, which is necessary to keep our planet’s climate habitable. Examples of these gases include carbon dioxide (CO2), methane (CH4), nitrous oxide (N2O), and fluorinated gases. But due to human activity, mainly the burning of fossil fuels, deforestation, industrial operations, and agricultural practices, the amount of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere has considerably increased. Global cooperation is necessary to combat global warming. With an aspirational target of 1.5 degrees Celsius, the Paris Agreement, which was ratified by virtually all nations in 2015, intends to keep global warming to far below 2 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels. Countries have vowed to cut their emissions of greenhouse gases, switch to renewable energy sources, boost energy efficiency, and put regulations in place to protect and rehabilitate forests in order to meet these objectives.

 

Individual activities are essential in reducing global warming. The use of energy-efficient devices, public transportation, energy consumption reduction, and support for sustainable practices can all have an impact. Additionally, adopting circular economies, minimizing waste, and encouraging sensible consumption can help to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
