He hypothesized that clusters of monomers and polymers acquired the lipid membrane and further evolved into the first living cell. Haldane coined the term prebiotic soap, and it became a powerful symbol of the origin of life (1924–1929)
Independently suggested that a wide range of organic compounds could be synthesized if the primitive atmosphere was shrinking and if there was a proper supply of energy such as electricity or UV light.
