Data is now centralized and stored in the clouds.  But according to the speed with which all this is increasing, all the data is being processed in the clouds.  

And the clouds are centralized, so the data has to be transacted from where the cloud servers are there, making the speed comparatively slow.  

If this transaction somehow starts happening locally, then this work will become easy and fast.

What is Edge Computing?                        


The full name of EDGE is Enhanced Data Rates For GSM Architecture.  

Edge computing is related to the data processing and local processing of real-time data because it works unlike cloud computing, so under edge computing, data is stored near the storage device for computer-related tasks.  

Is Simply put, it is such a new networking system in which the data server and data processing are brought closer to the computing process so that the problem of latency and bandwidth can be reduced. 

 Now you must be wondering what latency and bandwidth are?  Let's see this too.

  • Latency: 
    The delay in connecting to a remote data center or cloud in real-time is called latency.  For example, if you have clicked on an image on the Internet, then the time taken by an image to show is called its latency time.
  • Bandwidth:
     The frequency of the maximum amount of data sent over an internet connection in a given time is called bandwidth. 
     
     For example, the speed of data sent over a network is calculated as megabytes per second (Mbps).

 

Advantage of Edge Computing                

Speed: – Due to less distance in data processing in edge computing, where earlier it used to take more data from the cloud, now servers retrieve the data from edge computing itself, due to which the speed in processing the data seems less.

 Future Technology Enabled: – You must know that 5G technology is developing gradually, then edge computing in this area will make data response faster by using Artificial Intelligence (AI) with 5G technology and accurately. 
 

 

 Which will make computing even better and more convenient.  At the same time, efforts are being made to reduce latency by edge computing so that we can make data processing faster in the coming future.
 
  Cheap:- Edge computing is much cheaper than cloud computing because in many companies, the use of cloud computing increases its cost due to the use of the high amount of data store and bandwidth, and all this process is costly, so to reduce this cost.
    Edge computing has proved to be better in this case because, in edge computing, data is stored on local servers instead of storing it on the cloud, which reduces its cost.


  
 Time-Saving: - With the use of edge computing, machines do not require any cloud storage for data processing; rather, data is processed and stored locally through these edge devices, which saves time and storage capacity. 
     Also, by storing data locally, the retrieval of data becomes faster.


    
 Secure:- Edge provides computing services and security as the devices and data centers are end-to-end encrypted, which ensures that the data network does not crash and is not accessed by any third party. 
       Since it is not related to any cloud technology located at a distance, there is no possibility of any other hacking in it.
