  The food you eat makes an unimaginable journey through your body, from the top (your mouth) to the bottom (your anus). Along the way, the healthy passageway of your food is absorbed, providing you with energy and nutrients. What follows is a step-by-step account of how the digestive system works. 

  What is the digestive system?

 Your digestive system includes your gastrointestinal (GI) tract and liver, pancreas, and gallbladder. The digestive tract is a series of concave organs that are interconnected from your mouth to your anus. The organs that make up your digestive tract, in the order they are connected, include the mouth, esophagus, stomach, small intestine, large intestine, and anus.

 What does the digestive system do?

 Your digestive system is uniquely built to do the job of turning food into the nutrients and energy you need to survive. And when it's done, it's easy to pack up your solid waste, or coprolite, for disposal when you have a bowel movement.

 Why is the digestive system important?   Digestion is important because your body needs nutrients from the food you eat and the fluids you drink to stay healthy and function efficiently. Nutrients include carbohydrates, proteins, fats, vitamins, minerals, and water. Your digestive system breaks down and absorbs nutrients from the foods and liquids you consume to use them for important effects like energy, growth, and cell repair.

 Digestive system consists of what organs?   The major organs that make up the digestive system (in order of function) are the mouth, esophagus, stomach, small intestine, large intestine, rectum, and anus. The Pancreas, bitter bladder and liver help them along the way.

 Mouth

 The mouth is the morning of the digestive system. In fact, digestion begins before you take a bite. Your salivary glands activate when you see and smell hot pasta or chuck. Once you start eating, you bite your food into pieces that are easier to digest. Your slave mixes with food to begin breaking it down into a form your body can absorb and use. When you swallow, your jargon pushes the food down your throat and into the esophagus.

 Esophagus Located in the throat near the windpipe (windpipe), the esophagus receives food from the mouth as you swallow. A series of condensate muscles in the esophagus called the peristalsis bring food to your stomach.

 But first, a sphincter at the base of your esophagus, called the lower esophageal sphincter, has to relax to let food in. This sphincter also contracts and prevents stomach contents from flowing back into the esophagus. When it Stomachs, The stomach is a recessed organ, or "jar", that holds food while it is being eaten.

 They are mixed with stomach enzymes. These enzymes continue to break down food into a usable form. Cells in the stomach contain strong acids and important enzymes responsible for the breakdown process.

 When the contents of the stomach are reused enough, they are released into the small intestine.

 Small Intestine Comprised of three parts—the duodenum, jejunum, and ileum, the small intestine is a 22-foot long muscular tube that breaks down food using enzymes secreted by the pancreas and eroding the liver.

 Peristalsis is also active in this organ, moving food around and mixing it with the digestive organs of the pancreas and liver. The duodenum is the first member of the small intestine. He is largely responsible for the uninterrupted breakdown process.

 The jejunum and lower ileum in the intestines are primarily responsible for bringing nutrients into the bloodstream. The contents of the small intestine begin in semi-solid form and end in liquid form after passing through the organs. Water, corrosives, enzymes and mucus contribute to the change in thickness. After the nutrients have been absorbed and the liquid from the leftovers has passed through the small intestine, it also enters the large intestine (colon).

When something (gas or coprolite) enters the rectum, the sensors send communication to the brain. The brain also decides whether rectal contents can be released. Again, the sphincter relaxes and the rectum contracts, removing its contents, if possible.

Anus

The anus is the last part of the digestive tract. It's a 2-inch-long tube that fits the lower pelvic muscles and the two anal sphincters (internal and external). The filling of the upper part of the anus is suitable for detecting rectal contents. It tells you whether the content is liquid, gas or solid. The anus is surrounded by sphincter muscles that are important in controlling coprolite
