Other similarly girthy stars include WOH G64, any other red supergiant (much less than 5 million years of age in keeping with a 2018 article) placed within the Large Magellanic Cloud, and VY Canis Majoris (approximately eight.2 million years antique, in line with a 2011 article), both of that have diameters round 1,500 times that of the sun, Massey said. (And given the uncertainty, either may want to trump UY Scuti in length.) "Either way, I suppose it's incredibly cool," Massey said. If any of these stars replaced our sun at the middle of our solar machine, they could envelop each internal planet as much as and including Jupiter.
