Mangala Devi Kannagi Temple
Approximately 7 kilometers from Pazhiyankudi in the Theni district and 15 km from Thekkady in the Idukki district, the Mangala Devi Kannagi temple is an ancient temple situated in the Idukki district of Kerala, which borders Tamil Nadu. About 2000 years ago, near Vannathiparai, Cheran Chenguttuvan, the monarch of ancient Tamilakam, built a temple dedicated to Kannagi. Dubbed "Kannagi Kottam" or "Mangaladevi Kannagi temple," it was often attended by pujas. It is located at 1,337 meters (4,386 feet) above mean sea level. Surrounded by verdant foliage, it remains closed year-round, except for the Chitra Pournami celebration.
