WHAT IS A SQUID GAME?
The number 1 game on Netflix is now a Korean series with a strange name. Squid Game is a series of nine disturbing episodes about a world where children's games turn deadly. The first squid Game Korean drama came to No.1 on Netflix, which reached a milestone in just four days of release, and now marks the largest company ever formed. It is bloody and violent, but it is also addictive.
The squid Game, which aired on September 17, has focused on South Korea's most indebted debt group. At first, they are deceived into a deadly children's sports tournament, but then many of them volunteer to come back, realizing that sports may be their chance to win the money they need to survive. Think "The Hunger Games", which only includes tournaments such as Red Light, Green Light and Marbles.
THE SQUID GAME, EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW
You will probably find Hunger Games watching the Squid Game, and there is a throwback at the Hostel and other shocking things that happen when a masked VIP team comes to bet, and rejoice, to death. But Squid Game doesn't feel like a copycat - a well-executed drama / horror series. Rich backstories are developed not only for desperate competitors, but also for those who run the game. Make sure you do not miss the final episode, which is a real roller-coaster.
WHY WATCH THE SQUID GAME
In the first episode, the main character explains that the Squid Game was a game kid in his hometown who once played on a squid-shaped arena. It's like a Red Rover, or a more detailed type of tag. There are no robbers, but the Squid Game itself finally comes on a deadly mission.
There is no question that this game has a dark theme and blood flows freely. Watching children's games turned into deadly wars is not shocking, and not everyone. But the characters are well-developed, and the action goes fast and does not allow for long.
The main character is a desperate father who is easy to help, but not perfect - there is a sad episode where his actions lead to a tragic loss. And he is not alone - the other contestants include an old man who becomes the team's grandfather, a North Korean refugee, a criminal with a snake tattoo on his face, and a highly educated man who was proud of his community.
The characters are introduced quickly and smoothly, and then the games are open. Once you have watched the episode, it is hard not to keep coming back to find out more, even if you see who survives the next twisted game.
You will need Netflix to watch a series of nine episodes.
All nine episodes of Squid Game are already on Netflix, so if you have nine hours left, keep enjoying yourself. Content warning: When people lose these innocent children's games, they die, often horribly. It’s up to you whether you want to see that by indulging in nine hours, or if you will need to clear up your look and take mental health breaks. (A piece of marble is very difficult.)
ABOUT SQUID SEASON 2.
Once you have watched the whole series, do not give up hope for the second season. Author / director told Various that he may return to the big screen movies before thinking about the squid Game sequence.
