Any physical activity or game, frequently competitive and organized, that tries to use, maintain, or enhance physical ability and skills while bringing enjoyment to participants and, occasionally, entertainment to spectators is referred to as sport. The physical health of participants in sports can be improved by informal or formal engagement. There are several sports, ranging from those with just one competitor to those with hundreds of players playing at once, either in teams or individually. In some sports, like racing, there may be numerous competitors who compete concurrently or consecutively with a single winner; in other sports, the competition (a match) is between two teams who are competing to outperform one another. There can be a "tie" or "draw" in some sports, and other sports offer tie-breaking techniques to secure a winner.
INDIAN SPORTS
Hockey used to be India's top sport, but even that position has since been lost.
• World-class athletes were created while the Maharajah and Princes of India were subject to British control.
• After independence, the country didn't develop a controlled and organized sports policy.
There are world-class athletes and sportsmen, but they are self-made; no state policy has developed them. The annual budget of the country does not include funding for games and sports. Only elite players and sportsmen can be generated if there is a national plan and policy to support and encourage them. These individuals should be recruited when they are still young and trained, nurtured, and completely adopted by the state.
Sports that fit this description are accepted at major events like the Olympic Games. Sport is widely recognized as a system of activities based on physical athleticism or skill. Other institutions, like the Council of Europe, forbid non-physical activities from being classified as sports. Many competitive, non-physical hobbies, however, assert their status as mental sports. Chess and bridge are recognised as legitimate sports by the International Olympic Committee (through ARISF), and Sport Accord, the international sports federation association, recognizes five mind games as sports: bridge, chess, drafts (checkers), Go, and xiangqi.
China may have had sports as early as 2000 BC, according to artefacts and buildings. It suggests that gymnastics was well-liked in ancient China. A number of sports, including swimming and fishing, were well developed and controlled in ancient Egypt, according to monuments to the pharaohs. The high jump, wrestling, and javelin throwing were other Egyptian sports. Sports in ancient Persia, like the classic Iranian martial art of Zoorkhaneh, were closely related to military prowess. Polo and jousting are two more sports that had their beginnings in ancient Persia. Kabaddi is a traditional sport from South Asia that has likely been performed for thousands of years in anticipation of hunting.
Modern sports involve a significant amount of technology. Some sports (like motorsport) require it as a necessary component, while others use it to boost performance. It is also used in several sports to permit off-field judgement.
