It is important to understand the risks and potential impacts of mobile phone use and make up your own mind about how you use your mobile phone.
How to limit the radiation of your cell phone for you and your child
Cell phones have a small amount of radiation, so it is not good to be exposed to radiation for a long time. Therefore, it is important that parents do not treat their mobile phones as free-to-play toys.
Here are some tips that families should consider when using a mobile phone.
Use text message instead of phone.
Use speakerphone mode or speakerphone for frequent or long calls.
Keep your head at least 1 inch (2.5 cm) away from your cell phone when speaking.
Limits mobile phone use to important calls and shortens calls.
Avoid using mobile phones or text messages while driving
Make a call only when the cell phone is showing the largest bar (fewer bars means that the cell phone is emitting more radiation in search of a stronger signal).
Avoid using in metal-enclosed areas such as cars, elevators, trains and buses (metal obstacles make it difficult for mobile phones to receive signals).
Mental health
Brain scans showed that children spending excessive time in front of their screen had premature thinning of the cerebral cortex. The cerebral cortex is the outermost layer of the brain involved in the processing of different types of information from all five senses. Therefore, cortical thinning at a young age indicates that mobile phone use leads to early adulthood in children.
Screen time
Children under 4 months should not be exposed to screen time.
Parents of children 18 to 24 months should choose only quality programs and watch with their children. You should not allow your child to see anything alone.
Children aged 2 to 5 need to allow parents to watch only educational, prosocial, and non-violent programming. Screen time should not exceed one hour, and parents should also watch with their children.
Protecting your eyesight
Short wavelength blue light emitted from smartphones and other types of screens can cause health effects such as eye strain and pain. This type of light can damage the cornea and even impair vision. The cornea is a transparent lens in front of you. If you experience eye strain, pain, or vision problems associated with using your smartphone, minimize the use of these devices. The same applies to tablets, computers and TVs. When using these devices, take frequent breaks to rest your eyes.
Bacteria on smartphones
Carry your smartphone everywhere. They take it to school, work, grocery shopping and errands. Some people bring their smartphones into the bathroom (not recommended)!
Neck Care
Looking down on your smartphone while texting or surfing the internet can strain your neck muscles and cause knots and cramps. It can lead to nerve pain that spreads to the back, shoulders, or even the arms. Take regular breaks at least every 20 minutes to avoid sending text messages or surfing your smartphone.
SMS and Talking during driving
Sending text and receiving calls, while driving, is very dangerous. Texting messages while driving distract you from what is happening on the road. There is great chance to have an accident
