What is Siddu ? How to make it ?

India is a land of festivals, traditions, and many more.

There is something different in every part of India; it may be food, culture, dance, dressing, languages, etc. 

Many festivals are celebrated all over India. Approximately every day of the year, somewhere in India, there is a festival.

And for every festival, there is a special preference for food.

Food is the main thing at every festival in India.

 

Himachal Pradesh is a part of India famous for mountains, temples,  culture, dressings, languages, rivers, valleys, beauty, hills, farming, apples, traditions, etc . it is where food is made according to the festival, function, etc.

For every festival, food preferences are different.

Also, for the same function, there are different food preferences at different places.

People here believe that Guests are like God.

 

So whenever their guest arrived, they treated them as they could and made sure that he went back with a happy heart.

So there are so many dishes which are made in different events and popular for their taste.

Siddu is one of them. It is one of the traditional food of Himachal. It is cooked in every home of Himachal.

It has a special place in the heart of people living here.

Many festivals are incomplete without it.

It is straightforward to cook, and anyone can cook it in their home.

It is trendy in the North part of INDIA.

Siddu is the most famous Himachal dish of India. 

 

It is very delicious and easy to make. It is also very healthy, and it is taken as a Breakfast and as a Snack with  Ghee and Tea.

 

Ingredients:  Wheat flour, yeast, salt, also some veggies for inside filling of siddur such as potatoes, onion, cabbage, etc.

How to make Siddu?

First, you have to knead the dough of wheat flour with yeast and salt.

And place it in a warm place so that it gets swell.

Second, make the filling for it.

  • Boil the potatoes.
  • After boiling, smash them into the bowl.
  • Also, smash onion on it.
  • Add salt, chili, and other spices according to your taste .

 

  • Mix them well.

Note: add salt accordingly; remember that you have already added salt to the dough.

Now check that dough is ready or not.

If it is ready, then go forward for the next process, and if not, then wait until it gets ready.

Third, make dough balls with the help of oil and fill them with the filling you have made.

Note: Use oil for making dough balls instead of using dry flour.

Place a boiler for heating ( simple boiler used for Momo making ) 

And place the dough balls filled with the tasty filling into the boiler .

 

And let them cook for 15- 20 mins.

After 20 minutes, the tasty siddur is ready.

You can use Ghee orTea with it and enjoy your cooking.

 

It is a straightforward recipe for siddur.
