Search Engine Optimization Checklist for a New Website
Basic search engine optimization should always be done when designing and building a website. However, search engine optimization is a broad concept and one can always forget to do something. Here is a checklist of search engine optimization measures for your new website. You can use it as a checklist yourself, or if you have ordered a website from another party, you can make sure that the author of the website did it for you.
Here’s a 24-point search engine optimization checklist for your new website

Have you already installed Google Analytics on your website?

Did you add the page to Google Webmaster Tools and integrate it with Analytics?

Did you add Bing Webmaster Tools?

Do you use WordPress? Have you already installed Yoast Seo or a similar search engine optimization tool?

Have you created an XML sitemap and submitted it to Google and Bing's Webmaster Tools? In WordPress pages, a sitemap can be easily generated using Yoast Seos. On other pages, the sitemap can be created manually, for example with the Screaming Frog tool.

Have you already checked the Google Webmaster tools site for HTTP errors?

Did you use Google's Keyword Tool to build your keyword list and find the search terms you want?

Did you check that each page of your site has a Title and Meta description set? Do they both contain the desired search term? Perhaps the easiest way to scan is with the Screaming Frog tool.

Are all <title> tags less than 65 characters and contain the desired search term?

Are all meta descriptions at least 120 characters but no more than 156 characters? Check out Yoast Seo with Screaming Frog or WordPress

Did you check that the site does not have duplicate content? This is perhaps the easiest way to check with the Screaming Frog tool.

Did you check that the site heading (h1, h2, etc.) tags are set and contain the search term? Screaming Frog on let me just say.

Do you use the H1 tag only once per page? Recommended review tool: Screaming Frog

Is there a desired search term in the URL structure of each of your pages?

Is there at least 300 words on each important page of the site? Studies show that pages that contain a lot of text appear better on Google’s search engine. There is no maximum amount.

Do all the images on your site contain relevant ALT text? Recommended tool: Screaming Frog

Can all pages of your website be accessed with up to three (3) clicks? The easiest way to test is to test yourself.

Did you take a look at your competitors' websites and link profiles? This is perhaps easiest to do with the MozBar add-on.

Have you already started external search engine optimization for your site? Have you collected links from quality sites? Read the Link Building Guide

Did you test your site's speed with Google Page Speed Tools and Pingdom Tools? Make corrections to speed up your site.

Are you using a Robots.txt file or robots metadata? Check that these settings are correct.

Have you already booked the name of your new business or website on social media?

Is your site mobile-friendly? Responsible? Check out Google Page Speed Tools.
