Organizational Structure of SAP SD

Company Code

The organizational unit known as a company code in SAP originates in the Finance (FI) module and links to the Sales & Distribution module. Company Code stands for an autonomous business. The balance sheet and profit and loss statement for a company that is a legal entity. Therefore, must be kept accurate at the level of the company code.

In a case where a corporate group or group of firms operate their enterprises in various economic sectors, each Company is legally a separate legal entity and needs to maintain a separate book of accounts. At the level of the company code, all books of accounts are kept.

Sales Organization

The highest level of the organizational structure in the SAP Sales & Distribution module is taken up by the Sales Organization. Which is largely in charge of managing and conducting sales. To increase market share, sales tactics need to be put into effect by the sales organization.

All customer inquiries and complaints are taken care of at the Sales Organization level. If they relate to products or services for which the company is principally accountable. At the level of the sales organization, it creates all sales reporting. The sales Organization is in charge of reporting. Distribution Channel

A distribution channel is just your method for entering the market by providing either a product, a service, or both. It is up to you to decide how to approach your client or final consumer. Examples of distribution channels include but do not limit to, retail sales, institutional sales, internet sales, employee sales, fair price shops, and sales to wholesale customers.

One or more Distribution Channels within a Sales Organization can be useful to reach various Customer segments. At least one Distribution Channel is indeed necessary for the sales processing to continue.

Division

The division serves to classify specific types of commodities and services that have similar characteristics or attributes. Additionally, it acts as a representation of your company's product line. The SAP system must have at least one division accessible while conducting sales in SAP Sales and Distribution.

Sales Area

The term "Sales Area" in SAP Sales and Distribution simply refers to the union of the terms "Sales Organisation," "Distribution Channel," and "Division." It states that a certain sales organization uses a specific distribution channel, or method of expanding its market reach, to sell goods or services that belong to a particular division.

In SAP Sales and Distribution, a separate Sales Area gets each and every sales document. When you restrict and choose a particular Sales Area in the SAP system, sales reports can further enhance. 

Storage facility

An organization unit in logistics known as a Storage Location assigns to a Plant that houses stock. Storage facilities can further classify and differ on the basis of their characteristics. Such as raw material storage, finished goods storage, spare storage, return sales storage, temperature-controlled storage location, etc.

Point of Shipping

Shipping Point is necessary in order to ship the product to the consumer. A Plant also gets a Shipping Point. Depending on the dispatch procedures necessary for the shipping, a Plant may have a number of shipping points.
