what is Robotics?

Robotics creates machines that can replace humans and imitate human behaviour. Robots can be employed for a variety of tasks and in a variety of settings, although currently many are employed in hazardous conditions (such as the inspection of radioactive items and the detection and deactivation of bombs), manufacturing processes, or other circumstances where humans cannot live (e.g. in space, underwater, in high heat, and clean up and containment of hazardous materials and radiation). Robots can take on any shape, but some are designed to seem like people. This is allegedly helpful in getting people to accept robots performing some replicative actions that are typically done by people. These robots make an effort to imitate any human activity, including walking, lifting, speaking, and thinking. Certain robots require user input to function, while others function autonomously. Although the concept of developing robots that can work autonomously has been around for a long time, research into the functions and applications of robots has increased significantly since the turn of the 20th century. Throughout history, it has been hypothesized by various scholars, inventors, engineers, and technicians that robots will one day be able to imitate human behavior and perform tasks in a human-like manner. Today, robotics is a rapidly growing field as technology continues to advance. Researching, designing, and building new robots can serve a variety of practical purposes, including domestic, commercial, and military. Many robots are made to perform tasks that are dangerous to humans, such as defuse bombs, find survivors in unstable ruins, and explore mines and shipwrecks. Robotics are also used in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) as an educational tool.

Etymology

The term "robotics" is derived from the word "robot," which was popularised by Czech playwright Karel apek in his 1920 production of R.U.R. (Rossum's Universal Robots). The Slavic term robota, which meaning work or job, is where the word robot first appeared. The play opens in a factory that creates robots, artificial beings who resemble modern notions of androids in that they can be mistaken for humans. The phrase was not created by Karel apek. In a brief letter, he identified his brother Josef Apek as the true author of an etymology found in the Oxford English Dictionary.According to the Oxford English Dictionary, the term robotics was first used in Isaac Asimov's science fiction short story "Liar!", published in Astounding Science Fiction in May 1941. Asimov didn't realize he coined the term. He assumed that robotics already refers to the science and technology of robots, since the science and technology of electrical equipment is electronics. The first use of the term robotics in some of Asimov's other works was in his short story Runaround (Astounding Science Fiction, March 1942), in which he explored robotics. He presented the concept of the three laws of Original release of "Liar!" predates "runaround" by 10 months, so the former is commonly cited as the etymology.

History

In 1948, Norbert Wiener formulated the principles of cybernetics, the foundation of practical robotics.It was in the late 20th century that fully autonomous robots appeared. In 1961, Animate, the first digitally operated and programmable robot, was installed to lift and stack hot metal parts from his die casting machine. Commercial and industrial robots are now ubiquitous and are used to perform tasks cheaper, more accurately and reliably than humans. They are also employed in jobs that are too dirty, dangerous, or tedious and inhuman. Robots are widely used in manufacturing, assembly, packaging, mining, transportation, earth and space exploration, surgery, weapons, laboratory research, security, mass production of consumer and industrial goods.
