Battlegrounds is a battle royale video game that was created by PUBG Studios and released by Kraft-on. It was formerly known as Player Unknown's Battlegrounds. The game, which was based on earlier mods made by Brendan "Player Unknown" Greene for other games, was developed into a standalone game under Greene's creative supervision and was inspired by the 2000 Japanese film Battle Royale. In the PUBG Universe series, it is the first game.
Either the first-person or third-person viewpoints are available when playing the game. Up to 100 people can participate in the game, which takes place on an island, where they scavenge for tools and weapons to kill other players while avoiding being killed themselves. The game's map's accessible safe area gets smaller over time, forcing survivors into an ever-tinier area to stay safe.
In the player vs player shooting game PUBG, up to 100 players compete in a battle royale, a kind of massive last man standing death match where players compete to survive as long as possible. Players have the option of participating in the match alone, in a pair, or as a small team of up to four individuals. The winner of the game is the final survivor or team.
Players parachute onto one of the eight different maps, each with a varied size and topography, to begin each match. Players must swiftly decide whether to evacuate and parachute to the ground because the plane's path across the map changes with each round. Players begin the game with only their customized outfit choices as equipment, which have no bearing on gameplay.
Blue hole used closed alpha and beta periods with about 80,000 players to gauge initial reaction to the gameplay and adjust balance prior to a wider release. Blue hole created a few servers just before the early access period on Steam and encouraged some well-known live broadcasters of related games to try it out in order to start generating interest. The Windows version's early access period began on March 23, 2017. This time frame was initially anticipated to run roughly six months, with a release date of September 2017. Greene revealed in July 2017 that they will need to prolong the early access phase by a few months while continuing to regularly deliver updates, with intentions to still release before the end of 2017.
PUBG would be coming to the Xbox One as a timed console exclusive sometime by the end of 2017 using the Xbox Game Preview early access approach, according to Greene, who participated in Microsoft's press conference at E3 2017.
At first, Greene claimed that Anticto, a Spanish developer, was handling the majority of the porting duties and that Microsoft was not actively involved in the process, merely helping to ensure a quality transfer. However, Blue hole announced at that year's Games com that Microsoft Studios would distribute the Xbox One version of the game, paving the way for a scheduled 2017 release. Greene claimed that Microsoft's assistance has been beneficial in a number of ways, not only for the Xbox.
