Procrastination: delay or postpone action
Every one of us delays our work without any solid reason. Remind yourself when you last postponed something. There are several things you procrastinate in your daily life unknowingly, too, from helping your mother out.....to.....sending the pictures of your last outing, which your friend asked you ages ago.
Difference between laziness and procrastination
You have a test the day after tomorrow. You plan to study tomorrow in the morning and chill the rest of the day. You wake up late and decide to study at night. When you finally sit, you remember you have only two episodes left of the web series, and you assure yourself you'd come back and study for sure. Eventually, you end up sleeping. Now, this is procrastination where you know and want to do, but you're unable to. If you're lazy, then..... there's nothing; likely, you won't even remember that you have a test because you are unwilling to use energy.
Height of procrastination
How far could you delay work? So, there's this guy who never submits his homework on time... And you know what happened, he was burdened up with work. So, I won't be telling the whole story...
This is what the height of procrastination looks like. I had decided to write the whole story here directly, so I didn't write it on paper. I had procrastinated my work even while writing an article about procrastination.
How to deal with procrastination?
Aukat main Raho (know your status): I remember myself deciding to study 11 hours per day, but I ended up only planning and never executing. So know yourself.
Distraction: This won't be new for you. Phone, web series, social media, friends...come on, you know your friends are distractions for your studies to a limit. So keep an appropriate distance from what distracts you.
Sense of urgency: Ever wondered how you had completed the whole syllabus in one night. We all have done that. You know, now studying can't be procrastinated more. Apply this daily. Before 7:30 (your favorite serial), before 4:00 (going out to play), or before 8:00 (dinner).
Reason: Why are you supposed to do what you are doing. Whenever I think of my family's struggles, I automatically get to studying. So what's your motivation? Dream college? Proud father? High-paid job?
Prioritizing: Obviously, going to the bank is more important than studying on a Friday. Then take your dog out and maybe then flirting with your babe. Know your priorities.
Announcing: Applicable for shameful and stubborn people. My personal favorite. Just tell your family you will be completing this chapter or not be using your phone for the next 2 hours or something. And if you have a sibling, congratulations; the rest will be taken care of by them.
Lazy: You are the only savior of yourself. Push yourself. If you want food already chewed, then no one can help you.
I found myself procrastinating a lot nowadays, be it the smallest task I've got to do. Then I experienced the procrastination cycle. So, I thought I am not the only one who's suffering, obviously. Why not let other people know how I helped myself. Remember 'later' never comes to get your shit done now. Let it be a start for you.
But, whatever I write, or you hear from anywhere, remember what matters most is...
"Believe in yourself"
