What is Practical Approach To Healthy Eating

I have been doing push-ups five days a week for over 25 years. My arms are very strong "but" it did not happen overnight. I did not do push-ups for weeks or months and I stopped. I had to make it a habit to push myself up if I wanted to continue getting the results I had. It is exactly the same as healthy eating. You will never be healthy, you eat healthy food from time to time. You need to make a habit of eating healthy if you want to get healthy. People jump on the "band cart" of healthy food when reading books or browsing websites that talk about healthy eating. Although many of these books and websites tell you what to eat to stay healthy, they fail to teach you how to practice healthy eating. So in the short term, when temptation comes, people go back to their old unhealthy eating, habits. What Is Habit? According to Webster's Dictionary, a habit is “a behavior characterized by repetitiveness or sensitivity to self-expression or a high level of performance.” Do you see that if we apply this principle to healthy eating, we will be on the path to a healthier life? Bad Eating Habits: Bad eating habits do not start immediately. For many people, these habits began to develop in childhood. So, another reason why many adults find it difficult to break free from their bad eating habits is because these habits have been part of their lifestyle for many years. Why Do We Eat Food? There are two main reasons why we eat. Another is the supply of fuel to our bodies. Another reason is entertainment. Unfortunately, some of the food we enjoy is unhealthy. Many people choose food based on what they see, smell, or taste. Look at these three sentences: This pie looks good! That one smells so good! Surely that one there tastes good! Note that all three of these expressions involve food and entertainment. However, sweet foods (in this case, pie) may or may not be good for you from a healthy diet. That is why we need to be wise in our choice of food and not simply abandon it in our vision, taste, or smell. Healthy Eating Can Be Happy: Some people think eating healthy food is boring and tasteless. I think one of the reasons they feel this way is that most of the commercials we see promote foods high in calories, fat, or sugar and only a small percentage of food marketing is made up of fruits, vegetables, grains and beans. So if there were more nutritional education, more and more people would find healthy and delicious food. How Healthy Eating Habits Changed My Life: In 1998 my wife finally told me that I had gone to the doctor for a checkup. I did not feel sick but, clearly, stated that it was a good idea to have a physical exam every year. I thank God for obeying him. I have been an athlete all my life. I run 18 miles a week. So when I went to the doctor, I did not expect to hear the bad news he gave me. He told me that I had diabetes without any limitations. Diabetes can be very dangerous if not treated. It is one of the leading causes of death in the United States. It is a pancreas that causes the body to stop producing the insulin you need to control your blood sugar. My doctor told me that I did not need to be prescribed medication, but he suggested that I start reading certain books on healthy eating. That was the beginning of my journey to healthy eating habits that changed my lifestyle. Today I can honestly say that I am in good health. I feel good, I sleep well, people tell me I don't look my age, I maintain a healthy weight, I don't take any kind of medication, my blood pressure is normal, my blood sugar is normal, my cholesterol is normal, my soldiers are strong, and the list goes on. It is wonderful to have a good life, and I thank God for it. However, I do not believe I am healthy because of luck. I firmly believe that one of the main reasons I am healthy is because I am committed to my health. Making a habit of eating healthy is a big part of this responsibility. Our physical bodies have rules that govern the proper diet. If we break these rules by eating unhealthy foods regularly, we will get sick.
