India is a country rich in natural splendor. Here the beautiful earth attracts everyone towards it. After the independence and partition of the country, in the first census in 1951, our population was 36,10,88,400, which has increased to more than 121 crores (according to the 2011 census). This rapid increase of population is called population explosion. At present, the growing population of India remains a matter of concern.
Current status of population explosion in India
Today India ranks second in the world in terms of population. The intensity with which the population is increasing in modern India, it will become even more explosive in the coming times. It is estimated that the population of India will increase to 1.5 billion by 2026, 1.53 by 2030 and 1.7 billion by 2060. This population growth is nothing less than an explosion. This has worried the leaders of the country. Today India comes in second place in the world at the level of population, but by 2030, it is likely to overtake China and reach the first place.
Due to population explosion / growth, the birth of children in India is still considered a gift of God. Even the educated section of the society is not ready to accept the fact that population growth can be stopped by us. In rural areas, people argue that the more hands, the more work will increase, but they forget the fact that with two hands, one stomach will also grow, which will have its own needs. Apart from superstition and illiteracy, there are other special reasons for population growth; For example, child marriage, polygamy, poverty, lack of means of entertainment, hot climate, conservatism, less publicity of child custody facilities in rural areas, ignorance of the latest means of family planning and for progenySon's inevitability etc.Consequences of population growth or explosion-
The main reason for the current economic, social and political problems of India is the increasing population. It is said in 'Rigveda' - "Where there will be an abundance of subjects, there will certainly be more amount of sorrow and suffering." This is the reason that today many problems like illiteracy, poverty, unemployment, hunger, low standard of living, social discord, unhealthy and food-crisis are increasing continuously in India. Clearly this explosion of population is a curse for India. If this growth continues at this pace, then after five hundred years, humans will not even be able to get a place to stand on the earth. This is what the famous Haskavi Kaka Hathrasi said.

Our countrymen are still careless about the losses caused by the growth of population. Certainly, if this sequence of population growth continues, then human life will become very struggling and turbulent.
The former Prime Minister, Smt. Indira Gandhi, while expressing her views on the loss caused by population explosion, had said – “Planning development with the rapid increase in population is a lot like building a house on a land which is not covered by flood water. is being carried away."
Population has become a very sensitive issue today. Due to the continuous increase in population, it is becoming impossible to meet human needs and resources. There is a continuous decline in the values of life. The rich are getting richer and the poorer and poorer. The gap between rich and poor is increasing. Population explosion is also one of the main reasons for environmental pollution. Therefore, it has become very necessary to control the population growth.
Measures to control/prevent population growth – To prevent population explosion, the Government of India is completely serious and is running many effective programs. This work is being done by many government organizations, health and family welfare departments and social workers. People are being made aware about population growth through family welfare programs and media. 'World Population Day' is celebrated every year on 11th July, which is celebrated with the aim of educating and making people aware to keep population under control.
Following are some measures to prevent population explosion--
Adopting the norms of two children.
To encourage late marriage of boys and girls.
Wide publicity and adoption of family planning programs and tools.
Discouraging the parents who give birth to more children and making provision for depriving them of various government facilities, irrespective of the class-caste they belong to.
Apart from this, there is also a provision to appoint a National Population Commission under the chairmanship of the Prime Minister for the implementation of health and family welfare schemes, so that population explosion can be stopped.
Today it is a matter of satisfaction that the Government of India is taking sufficient positive steps in this direction.
Today, new campaigns are being run regularly to stop the population explosion in India, the practice of child marriage has almost ended. New methods have come in the medical field, the public has become aware and fearless about the means of contraception.
If the people of India are helpful in stopping the population growth by acting wisely and the government is making efforts in this matter, then surely one day the population-explosion will be stopped and our country will again be full of splendours and the feeling of a crop-brunette.
