Vegetables should be part of everyone's diet. If you do not want to spend more money on the elderly and are sold in the store, you should probably consider planting your own garden. It is so easy to make that even your children can share in the fun.
Cultivating a vegetable garden is a “reality” these days as people have come to realize that the use of fertilizers and pesticides is far more harmful than good. Yes it will make the vegetables bigger or make the grower able to harvest them faster but the chemicals used to make this can be dangerous to the health of those who eat them.
But since the first farmers never did that and relied solely on sunlight and irrigation, the idea came back to haunt them. This will enable you to do this at home as you are able to get three basic things which are soil, water and sunlight.
What kind of living vegetables can you grow? Well, almost everything. Other examples of this include broccoli, cabbage, carrots, onions, potatoes and much more. You just need to know which ones can be planted at different times of the year.
Proper dehydration is important for your vegetables. If not, you can consider whether it is possible to grow them using a raised bed.
Once you have done your research, you can now buy seeds at the store. These are usually sold in packages so do not forget to read the instructions before using them.
Planting seeds for your organic vegetable farming is the second phase of this process. The challenging part is making sure that nothing happens to it until the time when this will be harvested.
Your vegetables may be attacked by insects, weeds, and other animals. To prevent this from happening, you need to find a bird, a frog and other insects to eat. With weeds, the only thing you can do is pull each one down. As for other animals, fencing and using animal hair, baby powder or deodorant soap seems to be a good barrier.
Mulch is another solution. This can be done with chopped bark, garden compost, leaf mold and compost. It should be applied 3 to 4 inches or 8 to 10 cm from the ground for proper use.
Some organic vegetables can also be made indoors. Take the example of a tomato that can be grown using a natural container made of clay, plastic, or wood. Just don't forget to give it daily water and sunlight to grow.
You can place the dishes outside during the day and if the weather is very cold, bring them into the house and place them somewhere like the west or south windows of your house.
Another thing to remember about growing organic vegetables in such containers is not to use soil but instead a mixture of peat, perlite and vermiculite.
Growing a vegetable garden is a challenge but it pays off if you can harvest what you have planted. This means saving more and maybe even a small business if you want to sell any excess you have in the market.
