The Olympic Games are an international sports festival held every four years. The ultimate goals are to cultivate human beings through sports and contribute to world peace. Summer and winter games are held separately.

 

Why was Olympics started?

In Greek mythology, Mt.oympos was the home of the greatest of the Greek gods and goddesses. The ancient Greeks loved the competition of all shots. Each year the various city-state of Greece sent athletes to festivals of games that were held to honor the gods. The most important and prestigious were the games held at Olympia to honor Zeus, The king of gods. The earliest record Olympics occurred in 778B.C.E.The last ancient games were held in 394B.C.E., Then the Romans who had conquered the Greeks. The modern Olympic games began in 1896.

 

#Olympic Symbol

The Olympic symbol is icons, flags, and symbols used by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to elevate the Olympic games some, such as the flame, fanfare, and theme-are more commonly used during Olympic competition, but other such as the flags, can be seen through out the years. The Olympic flag was created under the guidance of Baron de Coubertin in 1913 and was released in 1914. It was first hoisted in 1920 in Antwerp, Belgium, at the 1920 summer Olympics in the main stadium. 

 

#Olympic Rings. The rings are five interlocking rings, colored blue, yellow, black, green, and red on the white field, known as the "Olympic rings."The five rings represent the five continents of the world.  The symbol was created in 1913 by Coubertin. He appears to have intended the rings to represent Europe, Africa, Asia, America, and Oceania. According to Coubertin, the colors of the rings together with the white of the background included the colors imposing every competing country's flag at the time. The six colors (including the flag's white background) combined reproduce the color of every country without exception. The blue and yellow of Sweden, the blue and white of Greece, the tricolor flags of France, the United Kingdom, India, Germany, Belgium, Italy, and Hungary.

In the beginning, the Participants in the Olympic games were all men; women are not allowed to be a competitor or even to watch. Over time the Greeks held a festival of games to honor the goddess Hera, Zeus's wife. An only unmarried women could participate in the competition, which consisted mainly of foot races. Eventually, women were able to participate in and attend the Olympic games. Nowadays, every state and city, men and women, are participating in the Olympic games.

Je won four gold medals and set two world records. He won the 100-meter, the 200-meter, the long jump and was part of the gold medal-winning t×100meter relay team. At the moment, he overcomes raising his own country. He is the greatest Olympian in the world.

 

Michael Phelps:-(swimming,United States)

Twenty-two medals, Eighteen golds.

 

Larisa Latyrina:-(Gymnastics, Soviet union)

Still, the record-holder for most individual medals won at the Olympics with 14. She won the individual all-around twice, in 1956 and 1960, and won 1964. She won three medals in vault, three medals in floor exercise, three on the uneven bars, and mores.

 

Usain Bolt:- (track, Jamaica)

Winner of six golds. Swept the 100-200 and 4×100 me relay at each of the last two Olympics. World record holder at100 and 200 meters. The greatest sprinter of all time.
