What is Network Security

The Network is the starting point for your application. It provides the first gatekeepers that control access to the various servers in our environment or the network. Servers are guarded with their own OS (Operating System) doorman, but it is crucial not to let them inundate with attacks from the network layer. It is equally important to ensure that network doormen or gatekeepers can not be replaced or configured by imposters. In brief, Network security included both of them, i.e., protecting network devices and the data (information) that they forward.

The basic components of a network, Which act as the front-line doormen or gatekeepers, are the router, the firewall, and the switch.

Need of Network Security?

The Network Needs security against "Hackers" and "Attackers." The information is exchanged Daily. This can be misused by attackers. The need for Network Security can be divided into both conditions, i.e., Securing the data and securing the computers; So let's see why we need to secure the data in network security:-

1. To protect the secret information (data) from unauthorized users, i.e., it should be accessible to the authorized users on the network only.
2. To protect the information (data) from unwanted editing, accidentally or intentionally, by unauthorized users.
3. To protect the information (data) from loss and make it be delivered to its destination properly.
4. To manage from acknowledging the message received by any node to protect from the denial by the sender in specific situations. For example, let a customer purchase a few shares XYZ to the broker, and the denies for the order after two days as the rates go down.

5. To restrict a user to send some message to another user with the name of the third one.
6. To protect the message from the unwanted delay in the transmission lines or routes to deliver it to the required destination in time, in case of urgency.
7. To protect the data from wandering the data packets or information packets in the network for an infinitely long time and thus increasing congestion in the line if the destination machine fails to capture it because of some internal faults.

Another part of Network Security involves computer security includes computer security. Computer security means protecting your computer system from unwanted damages caused due to viruses or some software; certainly, the network must be protected from such type of damaging software. The people who intentionally put such software on the network are called "Hackers."

As the network computers are part of it, so computer security from hackers is also a part of network security. so let's see the need for computer security:-

It should be protected from replicating viruses from infected downloaded files or images etc.
It should be protected from worms and bombs.
It should be protected from the trojan horses as they are dangerous enough for computers.
