The Blue Whale Game also known as the "Blue Whale Challenge", is an online group game that is said to exist in many countries. Suicide incident in India
On 30 July 2017, a 14-year-old boy, Manpreet Singh, committed suicide by jumping from the seventh floor of a building in Andheri (East), Mumbai. Maharashtra state Chief Minister Devendra Bhadnavis blamed the boy's suicide on the blue whale game, but Mumbai police said there was no evidence that the boy had played the game.
Jayamani's son Vignesh (19) hails from Mottamalai Kalainar Nagar near Tiruparangunram, Madurai District, Tamil Nadu. A college student committed suicide by hanging himself at his home on 30th August 2017. Police investigation revealed that Vignesh had drawn a picture of a whale on his left hand and had written on a piece of paper about the Blue Whale game. So it is suspected that he may have committed suicide by playing Blue Whale online game.
