What is meant by population explosion? How it can be controlled?

Explode literally means 'to burst.' When we fill too much air in a balloon, it explodes. Similarly, if a country has too many people to depend on its limited resources, it will suffer from a population explosion. Population explosion is a serious threat to most third-world countries. The developed countries have adopted the system of family planning. This is why they are not in any danger. Family planning is the only workable solution to the problem of population explosion.

A build increase in population is creating numerous problems everywhere in the world. In our country, the situation is getting out of control. Our poor economic planning had also spoiled the situation. Our resources are not sufficient to meet the requirements of the existing population. Most of the people are living below the poverty line. The number of homeless and jobless people is increasing rapidly. When every year more babies are born, the situation worsens.

Unchecked population growth has affected us severely. Within years the population doubles. We require more houses for more people. More food required, and more clothes are needed to cover their bodies. More schools are needed to educate them. A country like Pakistan cannot afford all this. So family planning is the urgent solution to this devastating problem. Two parents producing only two kids can ensure a peaceful future.

When the number of people is more than resources, there is always the condition of war. Everyone is fighting against everyone. Numerous people become criminals. It becomes difficult to maintain law and order. Good values disappear from society. Economic pressure shatters the nerves of the people. The result is that there is tension all around. Everyone in the family is under enormous stress. It is tough for the parents to give proper attention to their children because they are all-time busy earning money. As such, they cannot build the character of the new generation.

At this stage, it is essential to give the people an idea of the problem. Most of our people are not educated. They are unable to look into the future. They are hardly aware that too many children in a family cannot get their basic facilities. Moreover, family planning is against their religion. They are so simple that they think family planning is an irreligious act as most people do not get higher education and marry at an early age. The result is that they produce more children than they can afford.

If we give our youth a fair chance of getting higher education, we will get many benefits. Their marriages will be delayed. Moreover, their excellence in various fields will prove fruitful to the country. If a generation sets the trend, the others follow suit. At the time of marriage, they will be mature. They can ensure the better future of their next generation. Their technical skills will multiply the national resources. They and their families can enjoy a better life.

As our country is already suffering from the problem of overpopulation, we must take many steps together. We must launch the scheme of limiting the size of the family. We must make laws to ban polygamy. We must give proper education to all our people. Opportunities should be given to the youngsters to seek higher education. The minimum age limit for marriage should be fixed. Incentives should be given to the parents who have only two children. Effective campaigns should be launched on the internet, T.V, and radio.

Most important than anything else is that all of us must have a keen desire to make our country a land of prosperity. This can be done by increasing our resources and by limiting the size of our families. Family planning is the only solution to various devastating problems.
