Mandela Effect

It refers to a situation in which numerous people believe that an event occurred when it didn't, or we can say that a situation in which a group of people has a false memory of an event. For instance, if this happens to you as you all are aware of Instagram from which you are watching reels for a very long time, one day you wake up and check your phone and found that Instagram is disappeared from your phone and ask some people about Instagram and what if they say 'Instagram'? What is that? We never heard about that. Just imagine that situation what would you do, this is called the Mandela effect. These false memories are sometimes shared by multiple people.

This scenario was named the 'Mandela effect' by a paranormal consultant 'Fiona Broom' after she discovered that other people shared her false memory of the South African civil rights leader Nelson Mandela dying in prison in the 1980s. Actually what happened is Nelson Mandela did not die in the 1980s in the prison, he passed away in 2013. When Broom talks to other people about her memories(false), she came to know that she was not alone. Others remember new coverage of his death and speech by his widow. She was shocked that such numerous people could remember the same event in such detail when it never happened. 

During the process, individuals may forget the source of information. This is a classic example of a source of confusion, in which the content and source become dissociated

 Some notable examples 

The story of Nelson Mandela is not the only example of this there are a lot of examples, as the concept of Mandela's effect grew along with Broom's website, other groups' false memories began to emerge.

 Pikachu

You all must have heard about Pikachu's character in the famous TV cartoon. 

Now, in this given picture, which Pikachu is correct? A lot of people would say that the left one is correct and has a black mark on his tail, and this happened also. In a survey, millions of people used to believe that Pikachu has a black mark on his tail, but the reality is that from when this show was started, Pikachu had no mark on his tail. It's weird. If two or three people had claimed this, then we might think that may forget, or their recollection power was not that well, but this was claimed by millions of people, and we can't say that they all were insane. 

If you ask me, I also remember that Pikachu had a black mark, but when you search this on Google, you will find that there is no mark on his tail.

 Curious George

It is an American TV show which was very famous, and every child loved to watch it.

A lot of people indeed claim to remember seeing him use his tail to swing from the trees. However, you’ll see that he doesn’t have a tail, meaning either your memory made the whole thing over or you’ve, If you look up film land of Curious George right now.
