Mahabharat can include Krishna the Pandavas — Yudhishthira, Bheem, Arjuna, Nakula, and Sahadeva along with their wife Draupadi and the Kauravas (who were a hundred brothers), led by the eldest brother, Duryodhana. The most important other characters include. Bhishma, Karna, Dronacharya, Shakuni, Dhritrashtra, Gandhari, and Kunti. Some pivotal additional characters include Balarama, Subhadra, Vidura, Abhimanyu, Kripacharya, Pandu, Satyavati, Ashwatthama, and Amba. Deities who play a significant role in the epic include Vishnu, Brahma, Shiva, Ganga, Indra, Surya, and Yama.
Introduction of the Epic
The epic will starts with practica, who is king Hastinapur. One fine day king wishes to spend some time in the forest. In the forest, after some walking around, the king wishes to rest, so he sits shaded place near a riverbank. After some time, the king started doing meditation; the goddess of water Ganga came across to that side and saw the king who is in meditation. She fell in love with the king in the first site( here, by the term love at first has come into existence ) and asks the king to marry her. But the king refused the proposal and said, sorry, I have promised that ill marry only one person in my life, so I am already married. But Ganga asks, but I am deeply in love with you. Then the king says, my son, Shantanu is similar in look and talent, so you can marry my son if you like him. King convinced Ganga and left that place. After some time king's son Shantanu reached that place and saw Ganga and started loving her and says that marry him. But Ganga makes one condition to marry him the condition is whatever she does; he should not question her. If the question then at that moment, she leaves him that is the condition. The king accepts her condition and married her.
Ganga kills her own son.
After few months, she gave birth to a baby boy. Ganga shows unconditional love for her baby and dropped him in the river. King, who has seen all this and gets shocked he about to question Ganga, but he remembered the promise. Like that, she killed 7 sons. After a year, she gave birth to the 8th son, but the king questioned his wife, why are you killing our babies. Ganga, you broke the promise, my king; this baby is cursed by saints in a past life. To overcome the curse, they have to be born in the goddess's womb and die; then, only the curse will destroy. I'm leaving you to take my son, and I'll train him and handover him to you when he is a teenager. After 14 years, king Shantanu was very sad, remembering those beautiful days with his wife and son. The king spending some time near the river bank. Then suddenly he hears an arrow sound he saw a handsome guy with fire-like eyes and a beautiful face. The king asks him, who are you, my child? Who thought you this? Then suddenly the goddess of Ganga came from the water and said he our son Devavrata. He learned all these skills from lord Parashurama, and I am here to hand over our son to you king take care of him, and Ganga disappeared.
