His was not a matter of ‘getting rich, but ‘wealth-riches’. It is noteworthy that her parents' wealth did not make her feel better.
An American businessman, philanthropist, and chairman of Microsoft was born October 28, 1955, into a wealthy Seattle family. His father was a prominent lawyer and his mother was a member of the banking board. The story goes that when he was born, his father made him a million-dollar wallet. But, Gates denied it. But one thing for sure, he had the best education, including 3 years at Harvard.
While studying, Gates excelled in primary school, especially in Mathematics and Science. At 13, he enrolled in Lakeside School, a Seattle Specialty Preparatory School. By the time she was in eighth grade, school mothers used the proceeds from Lakeside sales to purchase an ASR-33 telephone terminal and computer time at General Electric Computer. Gates became interested in organizing the GE program at BASIC and was offered math classes to pursue his interest.
Following the completion of Mothers ’Club donation, she and other students sought time for other programs, including a small DEC PDP computer. One of these programs was the PDP-10 of the Computer Center Corporation, which banned Lakeside students in the summer after they caught them exploiting bugs in the operating system to gain free computer time.
At the end of the ban, Lakeside students offered to receive distractions from CCC software on the Exchange for free computer time. Gates went to the CCC offices and learned the source code of the various programs operating in the system, not only in BASIC but for FORTRAN, LISP, and machine language. Preparations with the CCC continued until 1,970 when it was over. The following year, Information Sciences Inc. hired Lakeside students to write a payment plan in COBOL, not only providing them with computer time but also benefiting. At the age of 14, Gates was smart enough to do business with Allen, to do traffic statistics based on an Intel 8.008 processor. In that first year, he made $20,000, but as his age grew, the business declined.
From the beginning, Bill Gates was looking for opportunities. So after reading the January 1975 issue of Popular Electronics, which contained the Altair 8,800, Gates contacted ITS, the creators of the new microcomputer.
Paul Allen, Gates' best friend, was hired at ITS, and Gates took a leave of absence from Harvard to work with Allen at ITS, calling their relationship 'Micro-Soft' in November 1975. Less than a year later, the hyphen was fired again in November. 26, 1976, the trademark "Microsoft" was registered. Microsoft became the 1st independent ITS, in late 1976 and continued to develop programming language software for various programs.
Gates has continued to drive the world with his ingenuity. Forbes' 'The World's Billionaires' has rated him as the richest man in the world since 1,995, with the latest estimates putting his estimated profit of $56 billion. But the Gates Foundation and its social work will make us remember him more than his business empire. He will encourage us to keep moving forward toward our goal, for he has rightly stated: “If you are born poor, it is not your fault; But if you die poor, it is your fault. ”
