The new coronavirus (CoV) is a recently emerged strain of the genus Coronavirus.

Covid-19 is a recent virus that belongs to the same family of coronaviruses that caused the spread of the common symptoms of the most severe respiratory disease (SARS) and the common cold.

Wood-19 has been declared a global epidemic by the World Health Organization. What is the meaning of this?

Declaring CoV-19 a global epidemic does not mean that the virus is more deadly than ever.  On the contrary, it means that the World Health Organization (WHO) has formally acknowledged that the disease has spread worldwide.

Given that the disease can spread to children, families, and human populations in any country, UNICEF is working worldwide to prepare for and respond to the Covid-19 epidemic.  UNICEF will continue to work with governments and partners worldwide to prevent the transmission of the coronavirus and protect children and families from it.

Precautionary measures are being taken worldwide following the hundreds of deaths from the coronavirus in various countries, including China.  The virus has spread not only to Pakistan but also to neighboring Iran and Afghanistan.

On Wednesday, the Pakistani government confirmed two coronavirus cases in Karachi and Islamabad, which are kept in 'isolation wards.'  However, the government has asked citizens to take precautions instead of being intimidated.

The government of Pakistan has closed the border with Iran, while screening is also underway on the border with Afghanistan.  Health experts are advising people to take precautions to avoid the virus.

What are the symptoms of coronavirus?

The symptoms of the coronavirus are similar to those of the common flu.  According to health experts, fever, cough, cold, headache, difficulty breathing can be the initial symptoms of coronavirus.

But a patient with all of these symptoms does not necessarily have to be infected with the coronavirus.  However, travelers from infected countries or people who interact with suspected patients are at increased risk of transmitting the virus.

If the disease worsens, the patient may develop pneumonia.  And if pneumonia worsens, the patient may die.

According to health experts, it can take up to 14 days from infection to symptoms.  Therefore, such patients are isolated to confirm the virus.

 How is the virus spread?

When healthy people shake hands or hug a patient with the coronavirus, the virus enters the human body through the hands and breath.

Medical experts say the virus spreads rapidly from one person to another.
